basillica - rotting desert queen and black isolator strip - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Second CDR from Mike Vest's (BONG) solo project of hazy lo-fi ritualistic temple drone for smoked out fried brains. One long beast of a track at over 35 minutes. Limited to 100. Pro-manufactured CDRs with on disc print.

basillica - kingdom of status - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Brand new CDR from Mike Vest of Bong, Master Slave and Lobster Priest... 3 solo wanderings through temple ritual guitar wailing layered with mists of lo-fi tape worship, and deep fog of hazy green smoke burning at your blazed eyeballs. This is a must for people who wanna lay down and zone out to psychedelic mirages transported from a realm way more tranced out than where we're at. Limited to 50 copies.

heavy winged - blackest rainbow – cass - 8$
A total beast from this cross country American trio of Ryan, Jed and Brady recorded just after a 4 day east coast tour in November 2007 at Ryan's house in Vermont. The music switches between pure heavy repetitive riffing, drum kit massacre and shredding bass to more melancholy weird minimal bits, which actually co-inside with the last jam the band did before parting ways across the map. Nevertheless, this is another totally amazing and essential release from one of my favourite bands around right now. Limited to 200. Pro-dubbed cassettes.
-br

mark bradley - eternal - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
New CDR from this American experimentalist who's had previous releases on Reverb Worship and Basses Frequences. Six tracks across only 19 minutes, totally far out dream tone keys blending into one another pushing you into an almost nightmarish state of mind. Eternal could almost work as a 70s Italian horror soundtrack with its minimal blurred humming almost reminiscent of some kind of devil organ. Limited to 100 copies. Pro-manufactured CDRs with on disc print.

natural snow buildings - shadow kingdoms - blackest rainbow -2xcd – 17$

stefan kushima - magnetic leviation - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Stefan Kushima keeps bending our minds with his consistently awesome sounds that seem to be developing to a higher plain with each release... On this incredible 40 minute 6 track wonder, Stefan seems to pushed his trademark droning bliss of his previous two Blackest Rainbows to a more honed and zoned trance like state. Totally stellar and psychedelic. The closer features totally bizarre vocals/mutters/moans/crooning by Didi Bruckmayr... Full colour octopus artwork by Philipp Hanich. Pro-dubbed cassettes.
-br

pine smoke lodge - cranberry horn - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Excellent new cassette from this eerie drone act from Portland, Maine that there seems to be very little information on. This four track 60 minute beast takes you one dark earthy drone excursions into bleak trip-outs of lord knows what. Very dark and mystical, and probably one of the most interesting drone acts i've heard in quite some time. Pro dubbed cassettes with stark black and white woodland cover art. Edition of 80.

twinsistermoon - the hollow mountain - blackest rainbow – cd -14$
"Twinsistermoon is the solo project of Mehdi Ameziane of Natural Snow Buildings. The Hollow Mountain was originally issued by Dull Knife Records in 2009 as an LP limited to only 105 copies -- unsurprisingly it sold out in a matter of hours. Widely regarded by many Natural Snow Buildings fans as one of the best releases from their camp, this reissue has been remastered by Ben Nash, includes new artwork, and brand new unreleased material. The album has a beautiful earthy lo-fi feeling throughout which perfectly compliments its short and sweet folk songs, and occasional wanderings into psychedelic drone ambience. This is an album that really is totally beautiful and probably one of my favorites from Mehdi. The CD is packaged in a square artwork booklet and a pro-printed card wallet showcasing the superb original artwork from the LP sleeve. Limited to 1000 copies."

vakhchav - birth to a point it comes - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
New release from New York based Nickolas Mohanna, following some fine releases on Abandon Ship and Super Minerals/Magic Lantern's Phil French consistently excellent Stunned Records imprint. Mohanna creates Vakhchav through a hazed blur of synth, guitar, electronics and computer, giving this, his first non-US label release, a real nice ambient quality throughout. 'Sequels' opens the disc with a star-gaze wavering drone, washing in from multiple directions for full immersed bliss. 'Line In Motion' has a deep bass working your brain from the distance with a purely electric droning riff fading in from some unknown source. 'Passage' is brief with barely audible voices being subjected to pure static destruction, before heading into 'Of a Curvature', which returns to the blissed out multi drones of the opening track. This fine disc finished on 'The Take (at Dusk)' which is a 7 minute piece which somehow seems to blur all the elements of Birth To A Point's frenzied dizzying bursts and the euphoric dream like moments.
spill - where you aren't - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$

forest creature - frustrated analogue - blackest rainbow – cd - 15$
"Very pleased to announce the first 'proper' release from this local duo of Ben Moon and Richard Sides, and a very new sound for Blackest Rainbow. Forest Creature has been through many different sounds, starting as a fairly harsh noise experience opening for bands like Wolf Eyes and Jazkamer back when we did shows, they later on incorporated live drums and screwed up vocals, and a purely animal live experience. The duo's sound has progressed more and more over the last year, with more and more different sounds collating to make Forest Creature reach a point where they have their very own sound. Their previous sound would've fitted nicely into the Load Records roster, and then building to sound more like some kind of blend of Black Dice, early Animal Collective and Fuck Buttons. But now over the last few months I've experienced some of their best live performances yet (performed in near total darkness with flickering TV screen and bulbs) they pummel their audience with thumping beats, raging psychedelic synth, broken glitches and clicks, they seemed to have found a definite place that seems to be right for them. Strangely enough some of this material even reminds me of the supreme days of Sheffield's techno and IDM music boom back in the late '80s and early '90s with legends like Autechre, Black Dog, and the hay day of Warp Records best releases. If you're into Black Dice, Warp Records, Animal Collective and aren't afraid of a little beat here and there then I suggest you check out Forest Creature! Glass mastered pro pressed CD (not CDR) in full colour pro printed CD sleeve."

robert horton and sindre bjerga - can't go fast enough to get there early - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Wild and eclectic mail collaborations from one of America's most recently on fire jammers Robert Horton, and Norway's drone master Sindre Bjerga. Both have incredibly solid resumes of collaborations and releases, what with Sindre's ongoing collaboration with Jan Iversen, and Robert's collaborations with Tom Carter and the Mudsuckers crew of Pete and Gabe (of Yellow Swans), which also includes Carter. 'Can't Go Faster Enough to Get There Early' features a massive range of instruments and sounds, from multiple instrument based layered drone to down right weirdness, and total outsider vibes. Also features Hal Hughes, Lisa Graves and Jan Iversen. Glass mastered CDs (not CDR!), limited to 500 in white digipaks with stickered covers and a small 4 page insert of liner notes.
-blackestrainbow

master slave - death prayer - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Newcastle seems to be having some kind of insane surge of awesome musical activity in the last few years, and it seems unstoppable. Least stoppable is powerhouse Mike Vest who is creating some serious jams with his outfits BONG, Blue Queen, Basillica and now the heavy sludge dual guitar drone beast Master Slave with Pete Ryde. 3 tracks of heavy guitar drone, with the last track having an almost weirdo Skaters feeling to it. Limited to 50 hand numbered copies in bright orange sleeves to burn your eyes while the music burns your mind!
-br

gorman - the railroad earth - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
J-Bone of Cabin Floor Esoterica busts some serious stark and dark, slow moving drones, that gives the feeling that you're about to reach some kinda of joy, but the creeps just keep creeping in, and the lightness continues to move into darkness. Limited to 60.
-blackest rainbow

pewtr - whichever was - blackest rainbow – cass - 8$
Pretty psyched to be releasing this beauty from long time friend of mine Ron Schneiderman, I think Ron was the first person I ever bought stuff from for the Blackest Rainbow distro years back in Nottingham... Ron is the man behind Spirit of Orr, as well as being a member of Sunburned Hand of the Man... busy guy to say the least! Here you have some awesome solo outing of post Loren Connors / Sandy Bull styling, with a blend of pure outsider blues, americana and psychedelia. Limited to 100 copies.

bong / quttinirpaaq - split - blackest rainbow –lp - 17$
Bong are Newcastle's finest doom stoner band, as you'd expect you got distant vocals, totally wild psych guitar, heavy solid drums, but the thing with Bong that gives them a totally different vibe from all the weak band is they got a damn sitar in there, and it sounds so damn killer. On the flip we got a slice of Quttinirpaaq, we released a CDR by this dude last year to some damn good reviews, its hard to understand how so few people know this dude. It's basically the one man band of Texan Matt Turner who definitely doesn't bust out the Texas blues or country styles... this isn't no straight up doom though, opening with totally weirdo keys and feedback, with what sounds like some droning vocals and bizarre clicks, this is pretty out there. That is until three minutes in when Matt plugs in and then trashes a drum kit, whilst all this other crazy shit is going on. This is a fucking killer act, as far as I am concerned this is genius, not like any other drone doom vibes going on out there right now. Limited to 300 copies.
electric omen - abandon all hope - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Electric Omen is possibly some of my favorite work of Sindre Bjerga, rumbling darkness, like an earthquake at night, this is unexpected and terrifying. Bleak black and white covers. Limited to 60.

spoils and relics - alabaster silk - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Spoils and Relics 'Alabastor Silk' is a threes up (Kieron Piercy, Gary Myles and Johnny Scarr [occasional Fossil member]) improvisation on found objects, tapes and electronics - recorded in in a red lit Leeds basement, and then pieced together in Mantile studio, Nottingham. This release focuses on a reinvention of found artifacts, applied as tools to further explorations of prehistoric futures present. Limited to 60 copies.
'Alabaster silt - The reinvention of found artifacts are pieced together to form tools which enable a dig to the earth's inner crust to
further explorations into prehistoric future. below the cavernous murk dwell bubbling furuncle
streams in which manged carniverous matter bathe. Above the swelling, many mechanical wings gather creaking as they swoop in on the feeding, picking off the sores and gliding into the fog leaving only lose screws behind.. evidence is gathered and filtered through the silt parts of the beak are recovered strange resin is collected from the wreckage..

mechanical children - i rise to cover all - blackest rainbow –lp -17$
Debut vinyl release from this new duo that makes up two thirds of Jazzfinger (Ben Jones and Sarah Sullivan). Based around the idea of used broken keyboards, Ben and Sarah make some totally fucked and pretty heavy noise jams, there's some searing moments in this beast, particularly across the two part 'Burning of the Light Fields' which spans all side A, and most of side B... the closer is 'Planatary Wasp', which pretty much would be what Jeff Goldblum would have sounded like if he'd turned into some kind of rancid badass wasp instead of that pussy fly! Turn it up and get ready for your neighbors to come knocking with an ASBO for ya. Limited to 300.
-br

aidan baker - thoughtspan - blackest rainbow –lp -17$
Aidan Baker is one of the most interesting genre defying solo experimentalists around right now... Aidan also plays in the mind melting shoegaze doom duo of Nadja. This release reissues two tracks from a very limited CDR release entitled Thoughtforms, the original issue was on Tosom and is now long sold out, the LP collects two tracks from this release Thoughtspan and Thought Climate... Two long form tracks of genre blending shoegaze, post rock, krautrock and almost free jazz clatter at times... this is some very beautifully crafted music. Limited to 350 copies.

sasqrotch - slipping the reaper tongue - blackest rainbow –cdr -8$
This one has been on the cards for a long time, and after over a year of waiting the master dropped through my mail box. These dudes have had releases on BR label buddies Not Not Fun and DNT, and this is a steady paced doom tinged rock out beast, there's no joy found here. Two tracks, one studio, and a nasty live piece recorded at LA's Echo Curio, lined with sax blurts, guitar shreds, psychedelic swirls, and smouldering drums. Limited to 75 copies in bleak black envelopes with paste on japanese art paper and packaged with a skeletal leave and a hand numbered insert.

Super blissful! Limited to 75 copies packaged in a stamped purple envelope with paste on cut out art, and a hand numbered insert.

vampire blues - turkish petroleum company - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Swirling drones smothered in pure electric guitar anthems from two Jon's, one being Jon of The Hunter Gracchus / Singing Knives, and the other being Jon from Serfs. This is their debut release and is a real beauty, psyched out blues for a dark back room in hut out in the woods. Limited 100 hand numbered copies.

eyeballs / gareth hardwick - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Gareth Hardwick's steady stream of quality releases is gathering to be one of the UK's best current minimal drone catalogues around... here he gives us a 3 part trip of pure slow motions... Flip the tape and you have Richard Dawson's Eyeballs project, whose debut on Blackest Rainbow caused a stir with the few people who managed to lay their hands on it. Here Dawson's side is bleaker and darker than expected, gives me the full on feel of the Twin Peaks woods... feels like the vast emptiness of that claustrophobic wooded area. Low and lulling. Pro dubbed cassettes, limited to 150 copies.
-br

stefan kushima - inner hands - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Second release on BR from Stefan to end the summer heat with a sweltering black cloud of electric bolts... much more of a solid beast than the more mellow 'Don't Touch The Walls' disc we put out a few months back, this is one baron piece of heaviness... solid. Limited to 50 copies.

Manchester has some crazy scene going on, so many bands/artists keep coming out of there its insane... so here's a nearly 20 minute document from one of these bands, Beach Fuzz. This trio features members of Stuckometer, Axis Mundi, EYEHAI, and Manccc's Golden Lab Records head honcho himself, Nick Mitchell. Wild shit goes on here, kinda space drone rock or something. Double sided artwork, for a one sided tape... first time we jammed that, looks real sweet though. Limited to 64 copies.

New - very short - piece from this Ohio based percussionist experimentalist whose collabed with a buncha folks recently (C.Spencer Yeh, Fossils...). spoono - the divers private revelations of - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
Solo guitar tunes from Jack of Towering Breaker, which sound has really developed vastly since I heard material back in 2006. Smooth, and very well produced indeed, blew me away when I first sat and listened to it... some serious fast finger picking goes on here. People who dug last months Cam Deas 'Silver Waters' CDR will probably dig this... Black and white sleeves with artwork by Paul Sammut. Limited to 130 copies.
claudio two - the corpse - blackest rainbow – one sided cass -8$
New band featuring Chazz Improv and Norma Bates (aka James and Jessica Toth aka Wooden Wand and Satya Sai), and Max "Mev" Wicker, so far this little crew has just had two jams out on Toth's own Mad Monk label... Here you got two tracks of weirdo psyche drone blues, compared by James to some of the Hassara jams, pretty damn slick, I played this in my local record and book store and they compared it to the an old skool German loner, although the name slips my mind. Limited to 100 hand numbered copies with black printed pastel paper sleeves.

stefan kushima - don't touch the walls - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Kushima is a nearly 23 year old experimental visual and audio artist from Linz, Austria. On his debut release for Blackest Rainbow he creates minimal bliss wavering drones with minimal metallic vibes and fuzzed glows washing in and out. Sounds like Stefan was making these sounds somewhere in space or deep in the ocean and somehow it got recorded far away from the actual source. Its a real blissful nice gem from yet another unknown artist out there in the ether. Comes in classic BR sleeve designed by Stefan.
-br

quttinirpaaq - dragged throught the streets - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Quttinirpaaq is multi instrumentalist Texan Matt Turner, and Dragged Through The Streets sounds to me like what last years weak ass Transformers movie should have looked like... Doom ridden feedback and thundering percussion, weirdo electronics with walls of harsh feedback, screech and squelch lined crust invested sludge, bleak tribal drums with repetetive piano and metallic feedback shuffles, all across 6 tracks. Further releases will soon be seen on Ruralfaune, Reverb Worship, Epicene ESR and more!
-br

slow listener - i'm not afriad of the dark; i'm afraid of what it conceals - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
New 3 track bass shuffling feedback drone from this Brighton home slice... Ultra zoned out feedbacked layers, taking you on a visit to meet all those weirdo Twilight Zone creeps from both the original series and the 80s series (not the 2002 whack revamp with credit music by some dude from Korn - actually true). I noticed whilst listening to this that it's pretty loud on my system at 5 and the loudest my stereo goes to is 40, pretty nuts... I'd hit up 40, but I gotta be careful cos of the old guy next door is cool and he lends me screwdrivers, do wanna lose that hook up. Anyways, this is a mindblowing - kinda almost minimal but kinda 'full' at the same time - trip. You ain't heard feedback til your heard this. Limited to 50 copies in hand inked sleeves with stamped credits, each sleeve is entirely individual.

forest creature / ryan garbes and gerre hancock - blackest rainbow – cass -8$
Forest Creature are an insane duo that emerged out of the brief Blackout Band sessions. Duo of Ben (former BR store employee) and Richard. Total nutso weirdo noise shit, dumb electronics and self taught drums clatters... thrown in some scrapes, fights and pure dense noise with the odd barely recognizable vocal and you got Forest Creature... one flowing blurted nightmare. Ryan Garbes is the drummer from Iowa's Raccoo-oo-oon, and on this release he is joined by organist Gerre Hancock. Inititially the opening to this sounds like your in the big top surrouned by some chirpy clowns, elephants hand standing on balls, and dudes in big hats taming tigers... But then the psychedelia hits in, and man is it a trip! Far out smoky drones with elephants getting high - Dumbo style. Clowns becoming some kinda Nosferatu blood suckers - Tom Cruise Interview with a Vampire style. Grooving stoned lions dancing reeaaaallll slow, kicking the tamers asses whilst giggling away. one hell of a far out experience. Cassette = 70 copies.

And here's a few words from the MV about this dusty lil' gem.... 'Howdy folks, good timing... any time off with youse is good time. I finished this transmission on new years day, feels real good. It is a live set from Santa Cruz, a gallery called the attic last year on 2/17/07. Ralph Mazzeo's art was up on the walls by coincidence, his first ever solo show...real kool sync. Seymour Glass of Bananafish/Glands of External Secretion/Brent Lewiis Ensemble/etc...rode with us to the gig to hang out. Charalambides opened up with explosive harmonics, tom was using a homemade fuzz pedal that Grant Acker (of UN/Slurp Dogs fame) built, Grant also taped the show, on cassette, his reel combined with our child of microtones master is the veg wheel of this capstan...was a real hip afternoon/evenin'...the 'choice' to use this came to me earlier in the month on the first of two December full moons for some reason and i dug the joint out, i say some prophetic ramble about oxide. ahhh, the synapse... Long live the Blackest Rainbow'.

Second in this ongoing series of live cassettes from Matt Valentine and Erika Elder, this time joined by Willie Lane of The Golden Road in Oklahoma. This is post Ecstatic Peace releasing last year's awesome Gettin' Gone... pro dubbed tapes with printed green shells. Limited to 200, in full colour sleeves with the same art as Catalytic Dung but with different info and a new MV tale... Here's some words from Willie Lane: 'Some of Austin's brightest cognoscenti told us of the "coin" that resides in OK City. So we spent most of our bread on hot dog kings and Mexican coffee at scenic turnouts, thinking we'd make it all back two-fold at the gig. OK City and its lost lake were sobering to our power-ball minds. The Golden Road harvested tonal riches instead - and in spades - to the rejoicing of both common folk and high-rollers alike. Hospitality flowed after the gig & a kind soul rolled a bone on a Lord Buckley sleeve as our minds turned back to the road for what lay ahead. But maybe we shoulda stayed...'

We released this monster to almost instant sell out status back in Jan 08, and here's a second chance for all you 'Finger fans that missed out first time round. 150 copies, same artwork as the original editon but this time printed on ivory parchment paper. Pro duplicated with on disc print. Here's what we originally said about it: 'Most people should know these dudes, noisy drone from Newcastle, they've had releases on Heavy Tapes, Rebis, Gold Soundz, Alt Vinyl, Gareth Hardwicks Low Point, and a load more... It's called 'Grief to Grind the Fire' and has two new tracks totalling in at just under 65 minutes... a real brutal beauty. Bleak black and white sleeves in old school Blackest Rainbow style... 'Legs in the River' is like a swarm of black crows ascending on the earth, causing eternal darkness, and 'Burnt Hole' is like the radio transmission fucked-ness of the aftermath of this crow desolated earth'.

child bride - reflections on prism city - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
OK, so I don't support any kids getting married to old dudes, its not cool... but then this is a new recording by THE Child Bride! Spooked vocals, weird clunks, cut up surreal vibes, this one is a real slayer, almost like some kinda fucked up singer songwriter noise styles. The killer gem here has gotta be 'Rabbit Moon', some far out repetitive churns, some how blurring supremely with some thudding rumbling, and then some killer trance drugged vocal, that'll hypnotize your mind man! Limited to 60 copies with pasted art on envelopes.

the circle and the point - ...and then the trembling set in - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
New project from Adam Richards (the man behind teh excellent House of
Alchemy label) and Grant Capes (of VxPxC, Thousands etc). This three
track release opens with juddering, whirring weirdness and flashes of
hyper sound squeals. Lullaby for Stella is some kind of weird music
box with the cries of a baby laid on top and various blurs of multi
instrumental surrealness meandering in and out. And closer 'Round Two'
finished the disc with loose plucking and low level haunted drone
hovering throughout in the distance. Edition of 50 copies in black
and white handnumbered sleeves.

time life - geminis – blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
Awesome new duo who've had a few tapes out so far. This is Heidi and Lucas from Wooden Wand and the Vanishing Voice. Totally incredible psychedelic cosmic blues through to noise and just general surreal soundness... Full colour sleeve featuring the band with some crazy kid. Edition of 170 handnumbered copies.

treetops - brighter light - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
Mike Pollard is basically the man right now, not only does he do this
awesome project called Treetops thats had some killer stuff on
Ecstatic Peace, Not Not Fun, DNT and Gilgongo, but he runs one of my
favourite labels Arbor. So i'm psyched to be releasing this disc from
him. Sounding like some kind of 70s cavern ritual nightmare
throughout, tapping, churning weirdness with occasional patterred
drums, shattering cymbals, and more full on room engulfing
density-intensity. Comes in full colour collage sleeves designed by
Bethany of Pocahaunted. Handnumbered edition of 100 on black bottomed
cdrs.
