mountainhood - death pod - blackest rainbow –lp -20$
Brand new one sided LP from Michael Curtis Hilde following his recent LPs on Time Lag's Red Records sub division, as well as a string of ultra limited self released CDRs and releases for Yod and Reverb Worship. This is a far gone trip, thats totally out there and very hard to pin down, the closest categorization for this beast would be folk, but its like some total mutated, distorted lurker mirror image. Wild psychedelic strings and heavy bedroom vibes run throughout this delicate beauty. Limited to 300 in pro-printed black and white wraparound sleeve featuring amazing artwork by Michael.

aritomo - fearful sunshine filtering through foliages - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
"Reissue of this hard to find debut from Japanese musician and artist Aritomo. This was recorded between 2003 and 2004. This was previously self-released on his own Hakanairo label back in 2005 in an edition of only 200 copies. Superb psychedelic folk with drifting acoustic and electric guitars layered with percussion, bamboo flute, bass, field recordings and Aritomo's beautifully fragile vocals. Another chance to get a hold of this hard to find gem on wax, probably not for too long! Limited to 300 copies on heavyweight vinyl in pro-printed fold over covers with colour labels. Pressed at Record Industry in the Netherlands."

cairo gang - twyxt wyrd - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
This was actually the first ever LP I asked someone to do for Blackest Rainbow, way back in early 2007... The Cairo Gang previously had a CD released several years ago on Narnack Records, and the main man behind The Cairo Gang, Emmett Kelly, came over and toured with John Dwyer's OCS (now currently known as Thee Oh Sees), which was actually the first ever show I put on... After meeting Emmett back then he made several reappearances in the UK playing guitar for Beth Orton and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. This new record was recorded back in 2007, and in some ways is a slight departure for the roster on Blackest Rainbow. The record features 8 proper songs of loose relaxed Chicago style songs, if you're into the trademark sounds of labels like of Thrill Jockey you'll definitely dig this. The line-up for the release is also pretty damn sweet, featuring Rob Lowe (Lichens, 90 Day Men), Ben Vida and Joshua Abrams (both of Town & Country, Vida also performs solo as Bird Show). Limited to only 300 copies, with paste in covers and insert.

cam deas - blind chance - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
Fantastic new LP from Cam Deas, which was issued in a tiny run CDR for his recent euro tour with Jack Allett earlier this year. This is a slightly different release from the previous LP and split LP with Spoono, essentially this one long improvised acoustic freak-out. Loose frequent and infrequent twangs to pure whirlwinds of aggressive string assaults and finger shredding plucking. This still retains Cam's signature traditional playing somehow, especially the more intense heavier moments. A solid recording. Limited to 500 copies on heavyweight vinyl in pro-printed fold over covers with photography by Cam and printed labels. Pressed at the superb Record Industry in the Netherlands.

guanaco - sky burials - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
Debut LP from England's Lex Panayi who also plays in Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan, this however is his solo project, which focuses on psychedelic acid drenched folk and dark grey area drones for a monolith landscape. The whole records blends beautifully together to create an excellent album from a relatively unknown artist. This is one fine example of current underground UK music which I'm really pleased to be releasing. This is a must for fans of early Six Organs of Admittance, Cam Deas, Voice of the Seven Woods and such... Paste on cover and insert, edition of only 300.

isengrind - modlitewnik - blackest rainbow –lp -22$
"Debut vinyl release from Natural Snow Buildings' Solange Gularte's solo project, Isengrind. Modlitewnik continues Solange's fantastically far-out occult psych-folk-drone trip outs, 12 tracks across the length of this LP, considerably shorter pieces in comparison to her work with Mehdi in Natural Snow Buildings, Isengrind retains a certain amount of the sound of the duo, but it is a whole other beast, in many ways much stranger and darker, but still hauntingly beautiful with some fantastic blissed-out vocal drones, dreamy guitars, and psyche soaked dark drone zones. Heavyweight vinyl, housed in a pro-printed full colour fold over sleeve with all 4 panels featuring stunning artwork by Solange, the inside of the cover is especially spectacular. One time pressing of 640 copies."

mv & ee - live road - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
Collection of very recent live excursions with MV & EE, all high quality recordings from shows in November 2009. The A side opens with a MV/EE duo perfromance of 'Mine All Troubled Blues' from Art Damage Lodge, Cinncinnatti, OH on 20/11/09. This heads straight into two interprations of 'Environments', one from Project Lodge, Madison, WI which again is just raw MV/EE action, but the second features an enhanced line up with Muskox and Doc Dunn. The two versions are blurred together into one log blazing 11 minute space jam. The flip side opens with the classic blues soaked 'Tea Devil' with Erika's laid back vocals backed with MV's rippling guitar shreds, Rongoose's (Ron Schneidermann of Sunburned/Spirit of Orr/Pewt'r) heavy bass bliss outs, and Chris Corsano's showcasing a slow moving stoned out drum kit. Straight from hear we head into a completely trance inducing psychedelic haze of wild jamming with a totally different version of 'Environments'. The whole of the Bside was recorded with Chris and Ron at Bank Row, Greenfield, MA. Edition of 400 pressed on heavyweight vinyl with hand stamped labels in black and white pro printed wrap around jackets with cover art by Jeremy Earl of Woods/Woodsist Records.

tom carter, shawn mcmillen & starving weirdos - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
Crazy 3-way collaboration from some of America's best underground musicians... Charalambides Tom Carter is joined by Shawn McMillen, sometimes member of Warmer Milks and Ash Castles On The Ghost Coast, with he added power of Starving Weirdos. This two tracked collaboration has been around since 2007 and it landed in my mailbox a few months back, and man, its a real beauty. Side A is a total hypnotic slice of ravaged drone, the four musicians seamlessly blend their own styles of underground bliss outs to sheer perfection. Side B opens with a crazy loop of applause, waving back and forth with a growing repetative plug-in to new opening it up to create new levels of total sonic weirdness. Slow shimmering black chasms engulf the positivity until its awash with lo-fi scrapes and buzzing electrical nightmare. The loop eventually drops back in with total far gone chimes, jingling away at acid burnt psychedelic keys and a thundering bass loop. A totally bizarre jam, which just opens more potential ventures up for these artists, hopefully we'll see more from this collaborative team soon... Limited to 400 in pro-printed wraparound sleeves.

sylvester anfang II- commune cassetten - blackest rainbow –lp -18$
first press
A new slab of wax of tranced out psychotic psychedelic-ness from the occult loving Belgium based clan. This new incarnation being SYLVESTER ANFANG II (as opposed to Silvester Anfang) reached a new level of sheer awesomeness last year with the incredible double LP on Aurora Borealis, on Commume Cassetten they continue their bizarre trip into the darker - but somehow super psychedelic - realm of the occult obsessed mind. There's a real fucked up krautrock boogie vibe throughout but retaining some of the doomed funeral folk qualities of the original Anfang guise, as well as some loose as hell, total stoned out ritualistic baked grooves. The LP comes housed in a techni-colour collaged artwork with a black and white image of a lady, which we can presume is a witch, with a dagger and chalice... a sleeve that really sums up the music enclosed. The sleeves are pro-printed and wrap around the deep black wax which has some sweet full colour labels. This is one hell of a 40 minute trip...

cam deas - my guitar is alive and it's singing - blackest rainbow –lp - 15$
I am very pleased to be releasing the debut LP from Sheffield-London-Brighton guitar master, Cam Deas. This follows his two long sold out CDRs on Blackest Rainbow, and proves once again that he is off the chain! OK, so there's always gonna be the immediate comparison to James Blackshaw, but the sound is different, more aggressive almost and raw... this guitar playing has an edge, its deep and its powerful. The LP consists of three tracks, the A side is an epic almost 20 minute piece entitled 'The Waters Of Kvaloya' recorded by Ben Nash. The B sides and albums title track begins with almost a minute of near silence distant drone, that develops with stomach wrenching string twangs. The closing piece is 'As Spring Fell From The Leaves', which was originally issued on 'For The Silver Waters, Sing!' CDR last year on BR, but has been considered by people who've bought his releases and seen Cam live as possibly one of the best things he has composed, total genius, with a real blissful, but eventually dark, vibe. This track definitely deserved to be put on wax. Mastered by Ben Nash. Limited to 300 copies.

cursillistas / love cult - split - blackest rainbow – cass - 8$
Brand new split cassette from Portland, Maine based Cursillistas, who recently had superb LPs on Time-Lag and Digitalis, and Love Cult from Petrozavodsk, Russia. First up is Cursillistas' epic 23 minute 'Great Salt Desert', a superb weirded out blues drenched, desert dried, psychedelic mirage. A real fine side summing up how awesome Cursillistas are, if you haven't checked them yet, don't miss this side! The b side opens with Love Cult's 'Breadcrumb Pony Tail', a swirling blissful distortion dripping psyche dream, a really beautiful 11 minute wonder. This is followed by 'Somn' a more crushing electrifying piece with tinkering and rattling from unrecognizable objects, distorted feedback blurts and what sounds like then objects trying to communicate. Limited to 100 copies with parchment paper (either gold or ivory) cover with black and white print.

basillica - rotting desert queen and black isolator strip - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$

mark bradley - eternal - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
New CDR from this American experimentalist who's had previous releases on Reverb Worship and Basses Frequences. Six tracks across only 19 minutes, totally far out dream tone keys blending into one another pushing you into an almost nightmarish state of mind. Eternal could almost work as a 70s Italian horror soundtrack with its minimal blurred humming almost reminiscent of some kind of devil organ. Limited to 100 copies. Pro-manufactured CDRs with on disc print.

natural snow buildings - shadow kingdoms - blackest rainbow -2xcd – 17$

twinsistermoon - the hollow mountain - blackest rainbow – cd -14$
"Twinsistermoon is the solo project of Mehdi Ameziane of Natural Snow Buildings. The Hollow Mountain was originally issued by Dull Knife Records in 2009 as an LP limited to only 105 copies -- unsurprisingly it sold out in a matter of hours. Widely regarded by many Natural Snow Buildings fans as one of the best releases from their camp, this reissue has been remastered by Ben Nash, includes new artwork, and brand new unreleased material. The album has a beautiful earthy lo-fi feeling throughout which perfectly compliments its short and sweet folk songs, and occasional wanderings into psychedelic drone ambience. This is an album that really is totally beautiful and probably one of my favorites from Mehdi. The CD is packaged in a square artwork booklet and a pro-printed card wallet showcasing the superb original artwork from the LP sleeve. Limited to 1000 copies."

vakhchav - birth to a point it comes - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$
New release from New York based Nickolas Mohanna, following some fine releases on Abandon Ship and Super Minerals/Magic Lantern's Phil French consistently excellent Stunned Records imprint. Mohanna creates Vakhchav through a hazed blur of synth, guitar, electronics and computer, giving this, his first non-US label release, a real nice ambient quality throughout. 'Sequels' opens the disc with a star-gaze wavering drone, washing in from multiple directions for full immersed bliss. 'Line In Motion' has a deep bass working your brain from the distance with a purely electric droning riff fading in from some unknown source. 'Passage' is brief with barely audible voices being subjected to pure static destruction, before heading into 'Of a Curvature', which returns to the blissed out multi drones of the opening track. This fine disc finished on 'The Take (at Dusk)' which is a 7 minute piece which somehow seems to blur all the elements of Birth To A Point's frenzied dizzying bursts and the euphoric dream like moments.

robert horton and sindre bjerga - can't go fast enough to get there early - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
Wild and eclectic mail collaborations from one of America's most recently on fire jammers Robert Horton, and Norway's drone master Sindre Bjerga. Both have incredibly solid resumes of collaborations and releases, what with Sindre's ongoing collaboration with Jan Iversen, and Robert's collaborations with Tom Carter and the Mudsuckers crew of Pete and Gabe (of Yellow Swans), which also includes Carter. 'Can't Go Faster Enough to Get There Early' features a massive range of instruments and sounds, from multiple instrument based layered drone to down right weirdness, and total outsider vibes. Also features Hal Hughes, Lisa Graves and Jan Iversen. Glass mastered CDs (not CDR!), limited to 500 in white digipaks with stickered covers and a small 4 page insert of liner notes.

Pretty psyched to be releasing this beauty from long time friend of mine Ron Schneiderman, I think Ron was the first person I ever bought stuff from for the Blackest Rainbow distro years back in Nottingham... Ron is the man behind Spirit of Orr, as well as being a member of Sunburned Hand of the Man... busy guy to say the least! Here you have some awesome solo outing of post Loren Connors / Sandy Bull styling, with a blend of pure outsider blues, americana and psychedelia. Limited to 100 copies.

Debut vinyl release from this new duo that makes up two thirds of Jazzfinger (Ben Jones and Sarah Sullivan). Based around the idea of used broken keyboards, Ben and Sarah make some totally fucked and pretty heavy noise jams, there's some searing moments in this beast, particularly across the two part 'Burning of the Light Fields' which spans all side A, and most of side B... the closer is 'Planatary Wasp', which pretty much would be what Jeff Goldblum would have sounded like if he'd turned into some kind of rancid badass wasp instead of that pussy fly! Turn it up and get ready for your neighbors to come knocking with an ASBO for ya. Limited to 300.

Flip the tape and you have Richard Dawson's Eyeballs project, whose debut on Blackest Rainbow caused a stir with the few people who managed to lay their hands on it. Here Dawson's side is bleaker and darker than expected, gives me the full on feel of the Twin Peaks woods... feels like the vast emptiness of that claustrophobic wooded area. Low and lulling. Kushima is a nearly 23 year old experimental visual and audio artist from Linz, Austria. On his debut release for Blackest Rainbow he creates minimal bliss wavering drones with minimal metallic vibes and fuzzed glows washing in and out. Its a real blissful nice gem from yet another unknown artist out there in the ether. Comes in classic BR sleeve designed by Stefan.

slow listener - i'm not afriad of the dark; i'm afraid of what it conceals - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$
New 3 track bass shuffling feedback drone from this Brighton home slice... Ultra zoned out feedbacked layers, taking you on a visit to meet all those weirdo Twilight Zone creeps from both the original series and the 80s series (not the 2002 whack revamp with credit music by some dude from Korn - actually true). I noticed whilst listening to this that it's pretty loud on my system at 5 and the loudest my stereo goes to is 40, pretty nuts... I'd hit up 40, but I gotta be careful cos of the old guy next door is cool and he lends me screwdrivers, do wanna lose that hook up. Anyways, this is a mindblowing - kinda almost minimal but kinda 'full' at the same time - trip. You ain't heard feedback til your heard this.
