acid mothers temple & the cosmic inferno - shakespeare from the cosmic inferno 2008 - blackest bootleg – 2xlp - 27$

Debut release on our new Blackest Bootleg labels releasing live recordings. The bootleg was recorded back in August 2008 at The Shakespeare in Sheffield, a great venue that played host to Acid Mothers first show in Sheffield, and it was so packed, the floor was literally moving underneath the crowd, the room was like a sauna, every single person dripping with sweat, it was one of the busiest shows I'd been too in Sheffield in a long time. I remember there being some total hippies down the front going so nuts, it was like their dream come true to see Acid Mothers. And, of course, it was INSANELY loud. This release captures that, the sheer volume AMT were playing at for the size of the room was crazy. I remember several months after, a guy I know said he'd heard there was a recording of it, and then a few months from then he said he'd managed to get a hold of it and he'd got a copy for me. After months I managed to get it, it was on DVD as it was too long to fit on a CD, so the guy had said he'd literally said he'd sat in front of the TV and listened to the 80+ minutes staring at a blank screen. That must've been a hell of an experience. I managed to get a hold of it in the end, and edit to a perfect 79 minute release just cutting of a few minutes of the encore. This double LP collects those 79 minutes of the recording, 6 tracks including two awesome versions of Pink Lady Lemonade, and other classics like Heart of Earth and Space Disco. The line up for the show was Pika (Afrirampo), Tabata Mitsuru, Hugashi Hiroshi, Shimura Koji, and Kawabata Makoto. Both Pika and Shimura played drums, so the set was seriously heavy as you will find out when you get this spinning... Be warned there are a couple of points in this where the sound goes a little crackly and distorted, but only very, very briefly, and it does get pretty loud at a few points. Just like a true bootleg should be! Edition of 250 copies on printed card sleeves featuring cover shot of the band. Pressed on 140gram virgin vinyl.

natural snow buildings - chants of niflheim - blackest rainbow – cd - 14$

"The curious and ever-intriguing Gallic duo Natural Snow Buildings have gifted us with yet another sublime full length with which to entertain our mind’s eye. This isn’t just material gleaned from their no-doubt bottomless pit of jams either, the material for
"‘Chants of Niflheim’ was recorded practically weeks ago, so stands as a proper follow-up to the widely acclaimed Blackest Rainbow LP ‘Waves of the Random Sea’. It’s damned good too, showcasing their now patented fuzzy shoegazing ragas in all their extended, gritty glory. There’s a reason that in a scene dominated by groups coughing out extended drones Natural Snow Buildings shine - they're just a little more unusual. It’s that opium-induced numbness that somehow works in tandem with the current crop of witch house/drag releases – Natural Snow Buildings might not sound the same at first, but the mood is simply unmistakable. Like a fistful of NyQuil, ‘Chants of Niflheim’ will do just the job when you need something to edge you into a lucid heavy-lidded state of bliss. Highly recommended."

m

moon unit - hell horse and heady stratus - blackest rainbow – lp -15$

"Where to start? Upon hearing this new LP from Moon Unit it is immediately apparent that this Glaswegian trio stand apart from a lot of the psyche out new boys on the block. Perhaps because they feature Nackt Insecten himself, Ruaraidh Sanachan, Andreas Jonsson of Lanterns, and Peter Kelly. When I first heard this completed LP after a few different incarnations, I was really blown away... the previous versions that had dropped through my mailbox were really something, but this, the final version, is unreal in its sheer goodness. The five jams on this LP make up one of the best psyche out, freak out full lengths I've heard this year. It's an incredible record filled with furiously wild drum explosions, keyboard zone outs, sci-fi guitar shredding, and wailing feedback. It really seems to perfectly blend some of the best sounds that have occurred in the UK over the last few years, cannot recommend highly enough. Play as loud as you can! If you were into Nacket Insecten's Quantum Odyssey LP on Blackest Rainbow, you will love this for sure, and if you're just into wild free music such as Vibracathedral Orchestra, grab a copy of this beast! Edition of 500, with cover design by Jake Blanchard (the man behind Menagerie). Pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl."

j

david a jaycock - a magnifying glass for the ants - blackest rainbow –cdr -8$

Following on from David's Presets LP last year for Blackest Rainbow, he has worked on a brand new full length CDR, exploring a more multi instrumental drone sound, experimenting with stringed objects and a far more dark sounding sound, but with its roots in some traditional sounding more far out folk. David's guitar plucking appears at various times, and its blends in perfectly with this new approach to his music. Limited to 100 copies in full colour covers.

a

ali roberston's ludd quest - don't turn your hog out - blackest rainbow –cdr -8$

Brand new slab of avant weirdo sounds from Ali of Usurper. Slurping, sucking and squeaking insanity opens up this five track disc. As it progresses it may well just get more and more weird, pouring water (?), some sorta mic-ed up pipe actions, weird tinkerings of househeld objects, layered talking (at times saying that talking is a terrible idea - 'why are you talking'?). Ali's work with Usurper and his solo work retains a great sense of humour, with the pure weirdness of what is going and lack or knowing what the hell is making half the bizarre sounds. Limited to 50.

u

usurper and sticky foster - II - blackest rainbow –cdr -8$

Brand new one from these Scottish improvisers Ali Robertson and Malcy Duff aka Usurper, here joined by UK underground legend and A Band member, Sticky Foster. Sticky Foster fits in perfectly with Robertson and Duff's bizarre weirdo sound of somehow using a shit load of stuff that you can never quite tell what exactly it is doing what. I remember I saw these two lads down at the Rose Of England in Notthingham, both leaning over what seemed to be some kind of mic-ed up board and they were scrapping all kinds of objects all over it. This disc however opens with a bunch of total whacked out vocal madness that at one point almost sounds like the guys holding in laughter at god knows what insane expressions were across their faces while they're making these bizarre noises. Then even more weirdness kicks in with minimal creaking, popping, screeching, clicking and clunking. The second track is very much the opposite (on the whole) of the opener, which crashing vocal madness, wild clattering objects, strange woodwind type instrumentation, that I guarantee isn't any item you'd find in your local music shop... A fine example of the true underground outsider UK scene. Limited to 50.

nackt inseckten - reality bridge - blackest rainbow – lp - 17$

"Second full length LP from Scotland/New York weirdo Ruaraidh Sanachan, who also is the guitar shredder in Moon Unit and runs one of the best tape labels in the UK, Sick Head. Reality Bridge's four tracks of psyche-out futuristic electric haze are a step up from Sanachan's previous full length LP, Quantum Odyssey we released almost two years ago. Reality Bridge is one hell of a record, pulling together kosmische synth, guitar wailing, sci-fi insanity and b-movie bliss outs. The record is housed in a pro-printed sleeve featuring new insane artwork by Ruaraidh featuring a super degraded repeated self portrait with synth in space. The artwork is definitely up there with the now classic 'Quantum Odyssey' cover. Pressed on virgin vinyl."

c. yantis - kerning - blackest rainbow – lp - 19$

Debut LP from this American artist formally known as Outrage Is A Hat. Yantis fuses guitar mediations with a multitude of instruments and noises creating a truly individual sound of the outer limits of American primitive sound... Yantis blurs modern noise experimentation with almost classical musicianship at times. The heavy and minimal are laid to together to create one of the most interesting sounds i've heard from a new artist, definitely worth keeping your ear to the ground for more material from Yantis over the course of 2011... Mastered by Pete Swanson. Pressed on virgin vinyl. Issued in an edition of only 100 copies with paste on covers and insert, stamped labels and pressed on heavyweight black virgin vinyl.

celer - vestiges of an inherent melancholy - blackest rainbow – lp -19$

"Second vinyl LP from this formerly active American duo of Will Long and Danielle Baquet-Long, which also happens to be the second LP from Celer on Blackest Rainbow. Vestiges Of An Inherent Melancholy follows on from the recent pairing of releases on Basses Frequencies and features 2 sides of unearthed recordings that were created between December 2006 and July 2008. These two sides find the duo creating some truly beautiful drone works with their use of an organic and electronic palette of instrumentation; cello, violin, pipe organ, electronics, tape, field recordings, samples, and mixing board. This really is a standout side from Celer, pulling together their variety of sounds to make a heart breaking collage of sounds falling between beautiful dream tones and heavier dark moments. Vestiges Of An Inherent Melancholy again pushes Celer further to the front of modern minimal composition, proving that they were one of the most interesting, consistently outstanding, and intriguing acts around in recent years, creating some of the finest and most beautiful, fragile drone records around. The full experience of a Celer release is complete with accompanying titled fragmented sections for the side long pieces, and striking cover photography by Danielle. Limited to 500 copies in thick old style tip-on hardback jackets with LPs pressed on 140 gram virgin vinyl."

gnod / a middle sex - split - blackest rainbow – lp -19$

"Brand new split LP from fellow Manchester weirdos A Middle Sex and Gnod. Gnod follow on from some killer releases over the last couple of years, a split 7" with Bong, a tape on Not Not Fun, and a collaborative LP with White Hills. The oddly titled 15 minute 'Why Don't You Smile Like The Other Children?' opens with hazy strings and cosmically far out voices, this slow groove packs a multi-coloured burst of rhythmic psychedelic vibes. On the flip side, A Middle Sex takes up duties of doing something equally psychedelic, but in a completely different style. Their side is titled 'Polytheism', and is essentially made up of two tracks, the opener is a short, wild spaced-out cosmic synth piece, which is swiftly followed by their main 10 minute piece of layered drums and percussion, swirling electronics, distorted chanted vocals. Their side is all about the rhythm, and they really got that rhythm down. Edition of 500. Pressed on 140 gram virgin vinyl and house in super glossy pro-printed covers."

j

david a. jaycock - presets - blackest rainbow – lp -16$

"Debut vinyl LP from Manchester's David A. Jaycock (who is also a member of Big Eye Family Players), David had a 7" on the excellent Great Pop Supplement and Presets follows on from that fine release. Presets features 12 tracks of melancholic folk almost entirely performed by David on a variety of instruments, and it's a real step forward to darker areas than his previous releases on Great Pop Supplement, Early Winter Recordings and The Red Deer Club. The record retains some of the more haunting vocal and guitar moments from aforementioned excursions, and at times is comparable to Ben Chasny's Six Organs of Admittance, but it has a much stranger and hard to place approach and sound, with some fantastic dark creepy tracks, blurring creaking, clunking objects with something that sounds like guitar, transformed into something far more sinister... but somehow at the same time retains a feeling that everything isn't quite as bleak as it seems. Edition of 250 with pro printed sleeves. Pressed on virgin vinyl."

b

ben nash / magic lantern - split - blackest rainbow – lp -18$

"This one's been brewing at BR HQ for quite sometime, due to come out long ago, this beaut of a split is finally seeing light of day. A mutual respect from these two camps brought about what is surely one of this year's most exciting releases in the field of the split vinyl LP. Ben Nash returns after over a year's absence from releasing any solo work, now busy as a full time member of the excellent Chora, we may all be in for a long wait for anymore solo action after this release... but here we find Ben entering new territory with less of the guitar plucking from previous solo outings... Across these three new tracks, Ben is heading in a more zoned out psychedelic drone pieces, fluctuating between blissful electric churning, and incredibly dark swarming monoliths, with buried electric guitar bursts, it's quite a new sound for Ben. Unsurprisingly, he comes out on top form, and it's maybe some of the most interesting recordings he's released so far, but it's a far cry from his debut LP for Blackest Rainbow, The Seventh Goodbye back in 2008. Fellow Sheffield heads Cam Deas and Jon Marshall (Hunter Gracchus) accompany Ben on two of his three tracks, along with Rob Lye of Chora. Following on from 2 massively excellent LPs for our buddies over at Not Not Fun, Magic Lantern return, with what also might be the last recordings we hear from them for a while too... their two track side opens with a murky wild sounding basement jam 'Mosquito Coast' recorded in 2008, followed by the 15 minute groove of 'Long Way Down', full of heavy organ, slow burning percussion, wild wahs, raw riffing and the occasional chanted vocal this is one heavy piece of stoned blues psyche rock out. 'Long Way Down' was recorded by Bobb Bruno of Goliath Bird Eater / Best Coast back in 2009. Pro-printed sleeves, designed by Cameron Stallones."

b

starving weirdos - b/p/m series 1 - blackest rainbow – lp - 19$

Absolutely mind melting release from this consistently amazing American duo. This release has a very different sound to there superb drone recordings of there recent releases, yet it is still totally immense but really quite unexpected... Brian Pyle and Merrick McKinlay spent sometime recording legendary Humboldt based pianist Darius Brottman, who also happens to have a radio show before Brian's own show on KHSU college radio. The recordings of Brottman were then reworked by McKinlay and Pyle separately. Pyle and McKinlay have a side each on this LP, both sides featuring very different ways of reworking the original beautiful recordings. Side A opens with some straight piano clinks layered with incidental sounds that occured during recording sessions, creating an amazing feeling of beautiful surrealness , leadings into multi-layered piano movements over and over. Side B begins with an powerful, erratic, forceful playing, coated in psychedelic loops and reversed sounds, then returning to a more straight piano playing. The second track on this side almost bleeds into familiar Weirdo territory. This is one bizarre, but equally genius and beautiful release. Both myself and the Weirdos are honored to have the artwork for this LP designed by artist Mick Wiggins. Pro printed sleeves, pressed on 180 gram vinyl and limited to 500 copies.

ben nash / nautilus - split - blackest rainbow –lp - 15$

Nautilus is the solo project of Heidi Diehl of Vanishing Voice/Time Life, long time BR transatlantic e-mail buddy who we finally got to meet just over a year ago on the very brief Vanishing Voice tour... since then she has begun recording solo material under this alias, and has self released one CDR which blew our minds, and likewise blew local long time BR friend Ben Nash's cranium apart, thus the concept for this split LP was born! The Nautilus side opens with 'Still Rings', a far out trip of weirdo outsider dripping mind fuzz, like some kind of spatial insect gathering.  'Tallahasse Woman' rings more bells with the sound of Vanishing Voice and Heidi's psychedelic string playing, and subtle vocals buried below it. 'Jeans Theme' is another sweet track of tranced out guitar with approaching percussion and waves of vocal drones.  Ben Nash holds his side with two nearly 8 minute tracks, opener 'Plymouth Bredren Blues' has definetly got the blues as mentioned in the title, there's some serious woe in the wah right here, and some almost Paris, Texas moments. 'Interloper/Latch' also starts off pretty bluesy but half way through goes to a speaker shredding guitar shaker, with some seriously serious riffs, that are almost breaking up as they begin, and then reverting back to the blues mediation of the beginning of the track.. A great release, in an edition of 270 copies with paste on artwork.

wooden wand - wither thou goest, cretin - blackest rainbow – lp -18$

"Vinyl reissue of this fine record from James Toth, aka Wand, aka Wooden Wand that was issued earlier this year as a super limited CDR mounted on a block of wood. Wither Thou Goest, Cretin has a kind of lo-fi sound of some of Wand's earlier work combined with the more confident sound of some of his recent releases, it kinda fits somewhere between The Harem Of The Sundrum and the Witness Figg and Born Bad in the extensive Wand catalogue. At times this record has a really underground surreal sound to it, not just in terms of songwriting, but at times with the music itself, and combined with Toth's ever changing deliverance of vocals throughout the songs, it produces Toth's unique style. There's not many singer songwriters doing what Toth is doing right now, and here he's at the top of his game. It really can't get much better than how it's sounding here. Pro-printed sleeves."

i'm excited to be releasing this debut of thorbbing feedback and riff based destruction from this new duo of cameron deas and adam denton. this is one long dark 32 minute nightmare with some serious guitar and feedback abuse... i guess this will be pretty unexpected for some of cam's fans, but its a good insight into the ever changing ventures and willingness to explore sound from this young artist. professionally manufactured cdrs, limited to 100 copies with cover artwork by adrianne neil.

Super lo-fi psychedelic stoner jams from this Newcastle crew that features members of BONG, Masterslave, Basillica and many more... they have had a bunch of releases on the Fuckin' Amateurs label, as well as a mind melting self released cassette entitled 'Turkish Wedding' which I luckily managed to score back in 2008, the title track features on this brand new limited cassette. Richard Dawson's project that debuted on Blackest Rainbow earlier this year, which was followed by CDRs on Bells Hill, Low Point and Dead Pilot, and another release on Blackest Rainbow, a split cassette with fellow UK droner Gareth Hardwick. The Invisible Castle is far more intense, and in some ways heavier than the previous releases on BR, but retains Dawson's own dark take on the world of psychedelic drone music, and this is a proper drone release, clocking in an hour for the full piece. Limited to 1000 copies in pro-printed wallets.

beggin your pardon miss joan - edges - blackest rainbow –cd -12$

"Edges will be the first widely available release by Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan. It is a collection of several old songs from previous highly-limited releases on Centre of the Wood, Dead Pilot and Reverb Worship, plus five new tracks. The project is from the minds of Lex and Vanessa Panayi. Some of you may recognize Lex, as he also plays under the name of Guanaco ±, whose LP Sky Burials was released earlier this year on BR. On this 9-track CD, there are moments comparable to some of the material on the aforementioned LP, but at times its approach is more singer-songwriter based with more vocals, as well as merging autumnal psychedelic string picking excursions and traditional folk guitar meanderings. A really gorgeous collection of songs. Edition of 500, full color pro-printed card wallets."

twinsistermoon - then fell ashes - blackest rainbow –lp -19$

"Brand new full length vinyl LP from Natural Snow Buildings' Mehdi Ameziane solo project. This is the third Twinsistermoon release since 2009's The Hollow Mountain LP and Bride of Spirits 7" which were both released on the excellent Dull Knife label. Following on from these two gems, various obscure self released items and CDs on Digitalis and Students of Decay, Ameziane's sound has grown somewhat darker at times with this LP featuring nearly 50 minutes of brand new material. The A-side features 6 tracks, where as the B side is complemented with a huge, almost 25 minute track. The opening track 'Black Nebulae' is a gorgeously textured psychedelic drone-based piece, followed by a short, quieter, guitar plucked piece with vocals, but no words, entitled '1976'. 'Ghost That Was Your Life' is a stunning beautiful layered guitar piece with Ameziane's astounding beautiful vocals shining through. 'Big Sand' opens as one of the darker pieces, with an occult feeling to its sound, swirling vocal drones, almost like a choir at times, and in come those stunning warm and distinctive gutar sounds with layered ghostly sound scapes, that haunt much of Ameziane's solo and NSB recordings. Half way through this track it fades into layered field recordings, drones, and distant chimes, the sound of this track at this point just has a real melancholy vintage sound, the last two minutes are again a change of sound with a slow plucking of guitar strings. 'Desert Prophecy' returns of the sound of just Ameziane and his guitar, with some lo-fi electric riffing distortion in the background. It's pretty incredible to hear this and think that it's from 2010, and not from the 60s or 70s. The sixth and final track on the first side is 'Trailer', another beautiful somewhat lighter folk sound, which is interesting considering the following is the album's title track, 'Then The Ashes Fell', a side long track which is a considerably darker and heavier track than much of the rest of the LP, but it weaves in some beautiful lighter more reflective moments. Pro printed covers and labels. Heavyweight vinyl."

cairo gang - twyxt wyrd - blackest rainbow –lp -18$

This was actually the first ever LP I asked someone to do for Blackest Rainbow, way back in early 2007... The Cairo Gang previously had a CD released several years ago on Narnack Records, and the main man behind The Cairo Gang, Emmett Kelly, came over and toured with John Dwyer's OCS (now currently known as Thee Oh Sees), which was actually the first ever show I put on... After meeting Emmett back then he made several reappearances in the UK playing guitar for Beth Orton and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. This new record was recorded back in 2007, and in some ways is a slight departure for the roster on Blackest Rainbow. The record features 8 proper songs of loose relaxed Chicago style songs, if you're into the trademark sounds of labels like of Thrill Jockey you'll definitely dig this. The line-up for the release is also pretty damn sweet, featuring Rob Lowe (Lichens, 90 Day Men), Ben Vida and Joshua Abrams (both of Town & Country, Vida also performs solo as Bird Show). Limited to only 300 copies, with paste in covers and insert.

cam deas - blind chance - blackest rainbow –lp -18$

Fantastic new LP from Cam Deas, which was issued in a tiny run CDR for his recent euro tour with Jack Allett earlier this year. This is a slightly different release from the previous LP and split LP with Spoono, essentially this one long improvised acoustic freak-out. Loose frequent and infrequent twangs to pure whirlwinds of aggressive string assaults and finger shredding plucking. This still retains Cam's signature traditional playing somehow, especially the more intense heavier moments. A solid recording. Limited to 500 copies on heavyweight vinyl in pro-printed fold over covers with photography by Cam and printed labels. Pressed at the superb Record Industry in the Netherlands.

Debut LP from England's Lex Panayi who also plays in Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan, this however is his solo project, which focuses on psychedelic acid drenched folk and dark grey area drones for a monolith landscape. The whole records blends beautifully together to create an excellent album from a relatively unknown artist. This is one fine example of current underground UK music which I'm really pleased to be releasing. This is a must for fans of early Six Organs of Admittance, Cam Deas, Voice of the Seven Woods and such... Paste on cover and insert, edition of only 300.

isengrind - modlitewnik - blackest rainbow –lp -22$

"Debut vinyl release from Natural Snow Buildings' Solange Gularte's solo project, Isengrind. Modlitewnik continues Solange's fantastically far-out occult psych-folk-drone trip outs, 12 tracks across the length of this LP, considerably shorter pieces in comparison to her work with Mehdi in Natural Snow Buildings, Isengrind retains a certain amount of the sound of the duo, but it is a whole other beast, in many ways much stranger and darker, but still hauntingly beautiful with some fantastic blissed-out vocal drones, dreamy guitars, and psyche soaked dark drone zones. Heavyweight vinyl, housed in a pro-printed full colour fold over sleeve with all 4 panels featuring stunning artwork by Solange, the inside of the cover is especially spectacular. One time pressing of 640 copies."

mv & ee - live road - blackest rainbow –lp -18$

Collection of very recent live excursions with MV & EE, all high quality recordings from shows in November 2009. The A side opens with a MV/EE duo perfromance of  'Mine All Troubled Blues' from Art Damage Lodge, Cinncinnatti, OH on 20/11/09. This heads straight into two interprations of 'Environments', one from Project Lodge, Madison, WI which again is just raw MV/EE action, but the second features an enhanced line up with Muskox and Doc Dunn. The two versions are blurred together into one log blazing 11 minute space jam. The flip side opens with the classic blues soaked 'Tea Devil' with Erika's laid back vocals backed with MV's rippling guitar shreds, Rongoose's (Ron Schneidermann of Sunburned/Spirit of Orr/Pewt'r) heavy bass bliss outs, and Chris Corsano's showcasing a slow moving stoned out drum kit. Straight from hear we head into a completely trance inducing psychedelic haze of wild jamming with a totally different version of 'Environments'. The whole of the Bside was recorded with Chris and Ron at Bank Row, Greenfield, MA. Edition of 400 pressed on heavyweight vinyl with hand stamped labels in black and white pro printed wrap around jackets with cover art by Jeremy Earl of Woods/Woodsist Records.

"Twinsistermoon is the solo project of Mehdi Ameziane of Natural Snow Buildings. The Hollow Mountain was originally issued by Dull Knife Records in 2009 as an LP limited to only 105 copies -- unsurprisingly it sold out in a matter of hours. Widely regarded by many Natural Snow Buildings fans as one of the best releases from their camp, this reissue has been remastered by Ben Nash, includes new artwork, and brand new unreleased material. The album has a beautiful earthy lo-fi feeling throughout which perfectly compliments its short and sweet folk songs, and occasional wanderings into psychedelic drone ambience. This is an album that really is totally beautiful and probably one of my favorites from Mehdi. The CD is packaged in a square artwork booklet and a pro-printed card wallet showcasing the superb original artwork from the LP sleeve. Limited to 1000 copies."

vakhchav - birth to a point it comes - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$

New release from New York based Nickolas Mohanna, following some fine releases on Abandon Ship and Super Minerals/Magic Lantern's Phil French consistently excellent Stunned Records imprint. Mohanna creates Vakhchav through a hazed blur of synth, guitar, electronics and computer, giving this, his first non-US label release, a real nice ambient quality throughout. 'Sequels' opens the disc with a star-gaze wavering drone, washing in from multiple directions for full immersed bliss. 'Line In Motion' has a deep bass working your brain from the distance with a purely electric droning riff fading in from some unknown source. 'Passage' is brief with barely audible voices being subjected to pure static destruction, before heading into 'Of a Curvature', which returns to the blissed out multi drones of the opening track. This fine disc finished on 'The Take (at Dusk)' which is a 7 minute piece which somehow seems to blur all the elements of Birth To A Point's frenzied dizzying bursts and the euphoric dream like moments.

robert horton and sindre bjerga - can't go fast enough to get there early - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$

Wild and eclectic mail collaborations from one of America's most recently on fire jammers Robert Horton, and Norway's drone master Sindre Bjerga. Both have incredibly solid resumes of collaborations and releases, what with Sindre's ongoing collaboration with Jan Iversen, and Robert's collaborations with Tom Carter and the Mudsuckers crew of Pete and Gabe (of Yellow Swans), which also includes Carter. 'Can't Go Faster Enough to Get There Early' features a massive range of instruments and sounds, from multiple instrument based layered drone to down right weirdness, and total outsider vibes. Also features Hal Hughes, Lisa Graves and Jan Iversen. Glass mastered CDs (not CDR!), limited to 500 in white digipaks with stickered covers and a small 4 page insert of liner notes.

pewtr - whichever was - blackest rainbow – cass - 8$

Pretty psyched to be releasing this beauty from long time friend of mine Ron Schneiderman, I think Ron was the first person I ever bought stuff from for the Blackest Rainbow distro years back in Nottingham... Ron is the man behind Spirit of Orr, as well as being a member of Sunburned Hand of the Man... busy guy to say the least! Here you have some awesome solo outing of post Loren Connors / Sandy Bull styling, with a blend of pure outsider blues, americana and psychedelia. Limited to 100 copies.

electric omen - abandon all hope - blackest rainbow– cass -8$

Electric Omen is possibly some of my favorite work of Sindre Bjerga, rumbling darkness, like an earthquake at night, this is unexpected and terrifying. Bleak black and white covers. Limited to 60.

spoils and relics - alabaster silk - blackest rainbow – cass -8$

Spoils and Relics 'Alabastor Silk' is a threes up (Kieron Piercy, Gary Myles and Johnny Scarr [occasional Fossil member]) improvisation on found objects, tapes and electronics - recorded in in a red lit Leeds basement, and then pieced together in Mantile studio, Nottingham. This release focuses on a reinvention of found artifacts, applied as tools to further explorations of prehistoric futures present. Limited to 60 copies.
'Alabaster silt - The reinvention of found artifacts are pieced together to form tools which enable a dig to the earth's inner crust to

mechanical children - i rise to cover all - blackest rainbow–lp -17$

Debut vinyl release from this new duo that makes up two thirds of Jazzfinger (Ben Jones and Sarah Sullivan). Based around the idea of used broken keyboards, Ben and Sarah make some totally fucked and pretty heavy noise jams, there's some searing moments in this beast, particularly across the two part 'Burning of the Light Fields' which spans all side A, and most of side B... the closer is 'Planatary Wasp', which pretty much would be what Jeff Goldblum would have sounded like if he'd turned into some kind of rancid badass wasp instead of that pussy fly! Turn it up and get ready for your neighbors to come knocking with an ASBO for ya. Limited to 300.

aidan baker - thoughtspan -blackest rainbow–lp -17$

Aidan Baker is one of the most interesting genre defying solo experimentalists around right now... Aidan also plays in the mind melting shoegaze doom duo of Nadja. This release reissues two tracks from a very limited CDR release entitled Thoughtforms, the original issue was on Tosom and is now long sold out, the LP collects two tracks from this release Thoughtspan and Thought Climate... Two long form tracks of genre blending shoegaze, post rock, krautrock and almost free jazz clatter at times... this is some very beautifully crafted music. Limited to 350 copies.

Long time coming release from this Towering Breaker offshoot. Like some total weirdo bluesy jams - in the most loose possible. sasqrotch - slipping the reaper tongue - blackest rainbow –cdr -8$

This one has been on the cards for a long time, and after over a year of waiting the master dropped through my mail box. These dudes have had releases on BR label buddies Not Not Fun and DNT, and this is a steady paced doom tinged rock out beast, there's no joy found here. Two tracks, one studio, and a nasty live piece recorded at LA's Echo Curio, lined with sax blurts, guitar shreds, psychedelic swirls, and smouldering drums. Limited to 75 copies in bleak black envelopes with paste on japanese art paper and packaged with a skeletal leave and a hand numbered insert.

vampire blues - turkish petroleum company - blackest rainbow – cass -8$

Swirling drones smothered in pure electric guitar anthems from two Jon's, one being Jon of The Hunter Gracchus / Singing Knives, and the other being Jon from Serfs. This is their debut release and is a real beauty, psyched out blues for a dark back room in hut out in the woods. Limited 100 hand numbered copies.

eyeballs / gareth hardwick - blackest rainbow – cass -8$

Gareth Hardwick's steady stream of quality releases is gathering to be one of the UK's best current minimal drone catalogues around... here he gives us a 3 part trip of pure slow motions... Flip the tape and you have Richard Dawson's Eyeballs project, whose debut on Blackest Rainbow caused a stir with the few people who managed to lay their hands on it. Here Dawson's side is bleaker and darker than expected, gives me the full on feel of the Twin Peaks woods... feels like the vast emptiness of that claustrophobic wooded area. Low and lulling. Pro dubbed cassettes, limited to 150 copies.

beach fuzz - hole of hellos - blackest rainbow – one sided cass - 8$

Manchester has some crazy scene going on, so many bands/artists keep coming out of there its insane... so here's a nearly 20 minute document from one of these bands, Beach Fuzz. This trio features members of Stuckometer, Axis Mundi, EYEHAI, and Manccc's Golden Lab Records head honcho himself, Nick Mitchell. Wild shit goes on here, kinda space drone rock or something. Double sided artwork, for a one sided tape... first time we jammed that, looks real sweet though. Limited to 64 copies.

New - very short - piece from this Ohio based percussionist experimentalist whose collabed with a buncha folks recently (C.Spencer Yeh, Fossils...). One extremely minimal piece of drone using a snare, totally acoustic with an insane ending... n Ryans words 'it's all acoustic. Supersonic acoustic sine waves interfering with one another making audible sweeps, etc. It's all just a floor tom. Secret fuckin' ninja jedi mind moves and shit'... Edition of 80 in gold sprayed and stickered sleeves of painted and stamped sleeves, everyone individual in either marron, black or white papers...

spoono - the divers private revelations of - blackest rainbow – cdr - 9$

Solo guitar tunes from Jack of Towering Breaker, which sound has really developed vastly since I heard material back in 2006. Smooth, and very well produced indeed, blew me away when I first sat and listened to it... some serious fast finger picking goes on here. People who dug last months Cam Deas 'Silver Waters' CDR will probably dig this... Black and white sleeves with artwork by Paul Sammut. Limited to 130 copies.

claudio two - the corpse - blackest rainbow– one sided cass -8$

New band featuring Chazz Improv and Norma Bates (aka James and Jessica Toth aka Wooden Wand and Satya Sai), and Max "Mev" Wicker, so far this little crew has just had two jams out on Toth's own Mad Monk label... Here you got two tracks of weirdo psyche drone blues, compared by James to some of the Hassara jams, pretty damn slick, I played this in my local record and book store and they compared it to the an old skool German loner, although the name slips my mind. Limited to 100 hand numbered copies with black printed pastel paper sleeves.

stefan kushima - don't touch the walls - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$

Kushima is a nearly 23 year old experimental visual and audio artist from Linz, Austria. On his debut release for Blackest Rainbow he creates minimal bliss wavering drones with minimal metallic vibes and fuzzed glows washing in and out. Sounds like Stefan was making these sounds somewhere in space or deep in the ocean and somehow it got recorded far away from the actual source. Its a real blissful nice gem from yet another unknown artist out there in the ether. Comes in classic BR sleeve designed by Stefan.

slow listener - i'm not afriad of the dark; i'm afraid of what it conceals - blackest rainbow – cdr -9$

New 3 track bass shuffling feedback drone from this Brighton home slice... Ultra zoned out feedbacked layers, taking you on a visit to meet all those weirdo Twilight Zone creeps from both the original series and the 80s series (not the 2002 whack revamp with credit music by some dude from Korn - actually true). I noticed whilst listening to this that it's pretty loud on my system at 5 and the loudest my stereo goes to is 40, pretty nuts... I'd hit up 40, but I gotta be careful cos of the old guy next door is cool and he lends me screwdrivers, do wanna lose that hook up. Anyways, this is a mindblowing - kinda almost minimal but kinda 'full' at the same time - trip. You ain't heard feedback til your heard this. Limited to 50 copies in hand inked sleeves with stamped credits, each sleeve is entirely individual.

forest creature / ryan garbes and gerre hancock - blackest rainbow – cass -8$

Forest Creature are an insane duo that emerged out of the brief Blackout Band sessions. Duo of Ben (former BR store employee) and Richard. Total nutso weirdo noise shit, dumb electronics and self taught drums clatters... thrown in some scrapes, fights and pure dense noise with the odd barely recognizable vocal and you got Forest Creature... one flowing blurted nightmare. Ryan Garbes is the drummer from Iowa's Raccoo-oo-oon, and on this release he is joined by organist Gerre Hancock. Inititially the opening to this sounds like your in the big top surrouned by some chirpy clowns, elephants hand standing on balls, and dudes in big hats taming tigers... But then the psychedelia hits in, and man is it a trip! Far out smoky drones with elephants getting high - Dumbo style. Clowns becoming some kinda Nosferatu blood suckers - Tom Cruise Interview with a Vampire style. Grooving stoned lions dancing reeaaaallll slow, kicking the tamers asses whilst giggling away. one hell of a far out experience. Cassette = 70 copies.

Ian W is Ian Wadley. He was in an Austrailian band that came over here and played shows a few years ago, total gutter garage rock. Here Ian perfroms in Oslo solo, hence the title, improvisational guitar, bluesy and bleaky soundtrack music, this reminds me of a ton of stuff, even Haino, at his most pluckery. Limited to 60 copies.
