wasteland jazz unit - box 002 - catholic tapes - 2xcass -14$
For the 3rd installment of the Catholic Tapes BOX series comes double dose from Cincinnati, Ohio's Wasteland Jazz Unit. The duo comprised of Jon Lorenz on Saxophones & John Rich on Clarinets present another blown-out amalgamation of buzz and burl that could peel the paint off walls. Following their first full length LP on Nashazphone just months back, the Unit are back in full force with their pure-volume reed-assault like nobody else. The originality of both the process of the Unit is not to be understated, nor is their uncompromising and evolving sound. The sonic extremities of this release is on par with that of a screeching train derailing into another in slow motion. Incredibly stunning and captivating sounds coming from a completely unique place. Tape II features percussionist Chris Adams on the skins adding a completely new dynamic to the already glass-shattering sounds of the duo. Horns on a hellride through the desert at full force. Truly wonderful work. One of the heaviest and relentless releases I've had the pleasure in releasing. In an edition of 100 copies, Chrome bias tapes, Packaged in 5x5 white boxes with protective sleeves, with b&w art and transparency inserts.

josh burke - shared lucidity- catholic tapes - cass - 7$
Thirty minutes of bright and thoughtful synthesizer music from Chicago's Josh Burke. Throughout the past few years we have seen the evolution of the many faces of Burke through projects such as Sky Limousine, Futuresport, Nehal Shah, Silk Fountain, and various labels like Midnight Star Media, Clear Video/Audio & Avocado Jungle. While constantly improving and changing the game, his recent work under his birth name render much more carefully laid out and the most progressive in the extensive output of of Josh's work. Two sides of clean and clear lucid waves of air-y synthesized bliss while contantly moving forward towards infinity. Waking & Walking in in a dream state
In an Edition of 100 Copies, Chrome Bias tapes, full color art/inserts

running - running tape #2 - catholic tapes - cass - 7$
A VERY exiting second release by one of the best new bands in Chicago. A three piece - stereo flange feedback, reverb raptor-sounding vocals, and a pummeling rhythm section providing repetitious blasts, 50 seconds at a time. While Comparable and similar to bands like DrunkDriver, Slices, and Slavescene, Running move on with their own take on ferocious punk-influenced tunes. Very fast, very loud, and very energetic. Shit-fi recordings for the 21st century. Highly Recommended! Recorded live and remixed by Catholic Tapes Co-ceo Darla Marx. In an edition of 100 copies, Chrome-biased tapes, full color art/inserts.

face plant - get high and listen - catholic tapes - cass - 7$
2nd edition(regular cassette case version )
FACE PLANT is the new solo project of Aaron Coyes (PEAKING LIGHTS, RAHDUNES). While maintaining the same buried pop feel as Peaking Lights, Coyes goes completely off the wall on "Get High & Listen". With wild swinging delays over lo-fi tape madness, Coyes rarely lets up on this rollercoaster ride of a release enabling all the senses into total pop motion sickness. Like takin a ride through the desert on bright day, total Mario-kart style. Extremely uplifting and rhythmic while maintaining an unusually free and wild style. A really fun listen! In an edition of 50 full color copies in oversized packaging.

the cove - catholic tapes - 2xcass - 14$sold out
C30 + C10 Edition of 80 Copies
Starting and off both an exiting new series and aesthetic for Catholic Tapes is none other than Mike Connelly's (Hair Police, Wolf Eyes, Failing Lights, etc) newest projects; THE COVE. An in-the-red, downward spiral downwards into depths unknown. While blending a vast array of sounds and styles, The Cove proves to be one of the most dynamic harsh/weird noise releases I’ve heard in some time. Making indistinguishable moves from gut-wrenching and crushing electronics to drifting zones of slow feedback and metal makes these cassettes a really exiting listen to find new and unusual places in the tracks with each additional time through. Here, Connelly creates a great relationship to the absence of sound mixed with tape hiss and sparse feedback metal-sounding electronics, very reminiscent of his Failing Lights project. Very natural and un-human sounding in terms of its creation. Simultaneously, he creates walls of metallic washes and rushing riverbeds of electronic madness with intense, head-spinning delay, creating the feeling of turning gears before you can even realize a change happened. A dizzy-ing, time-warp adventure into a whirlwind of decaying turbine electronics. Music for the inside of an auto body shop. THE COVE says it all. Get in. No info . In an edition of 80 copies, full-color printed 5x5 boxes.
