the polyps - peixe - eggy records - 7" - 6$

"Formerly known as the Polyp Family, this amorphous group is led by songwriter Raf Spielman (also a member of The Golden Hours, who are responsible for the quietest tape ever released by Not Not Fun). The Polyps play stripped-down, deceptively simple, well-crafted pop songs, complicated by Spielman's tactic of teaching musicians his songs and recording them on the spot, before they have a chance to digest the structure. They often record straight to dictaphone mini-tape, transforming the songs into a series of moments captured in glorious, shambling lo-fi."

tracey trance - learning to your stuff - eggy records - cass - 7$

Really nice tape of shorter tracks that covers a lot of the Tracey Trance territory scuzzy blasts, wistful melodies, woozy speak-singing and a little sneak peak of the more rhythmic direction Tyler has been going in lately. Pro-dubbed tapes and hand-colored sleeves.

pak - box - eggy records - cass - 7$

For the last few years, Lauren Pakradooni, as Pak, has been making music out of tape loops and vocals, taking them to the extremes of distortion and damaged sound. Beneath the cacophany, the steady pulse of the loops always grounded the abbrasion, and her vocals, even if more felt than heard, lent their haunted spirit to the music. On "Box," Lauren has pulled back the sheets of noise so that the basic elements of her work stand out in stark relief. The twisted shards of tone now assemble to hint at melody and the white noise blast of her voice is now unadorned -- soft above the strange landscape. Rough beauty.

trace figures - no escape/lucidity - eggy records - cass - 7$

Gentle loop-scapes that amble and drift across the terrestrial plane, neither ecstatic nor subterranean, propelled by a steady, simple pulse. These are beautiful, understated, exquisitely constructed tracks that sneak up on you, slowly revealing themselves as you listen again and again. Pro-dubbed tapes, off-set lithograph covers printed by Container Corps

g

ghost to falco - hold back the dark/social trail - eggy records - cass - 7$

Two very limited edition CDR EPs collected and reissued. Late-night folk -- stark and strange. These songs were written as they were being recorded and posses a weird, immediate energy, unadorned by reverb or delay. Strong, weird songs.

l

lab coast - pictures on the wall - eggy records - cass - 7$

Disarming, muted pop from Canada. 1960s sound by way of the 1990s, chiming melodies and snappy drumming. Kith and kin with the excellent Australian pop being issued by Night-People as of late(The Twerps, Pageants, White Woods), a short and sweet tape that blazes through close to a dozen tracks in twenty minutes.

earthmasters - beheaded - eggy records - cass - 6$

"Earthmasters is the woozy, sideways pop-craft of young Brooklynite George Demoura. George sites Ariel Pink and Blank Dogs as influences but what he's created is a million times more zonked and wholly his own. These tracks exist in a frictionless alter-verse, either instrumentals held down by sea-sick drum machine or pop songs whose bizarre logic doesn't keep them from being inscrutably, weirdly catchy. Hand-colored covers, each one a little different. Pro-dubbed."

nodolby - s/t - eggy records - cass - 5$

"Nodolby is the solo project of Mic Scariot who runs the Italian noise label Dokuro, and who has graced Eggy with an excellent tape of lush, elegant noise music. The sonic palate is wide, moving from the traditional feedback-distortion axis into more mysterious audio territory where strange rattling and scraping evokes Brothers Quay-esque interiors and where distant melody flickers in the dusk. Hand-colored covers, each one a little different. Pro-dubbed."

p

the polyps - twenty colored circle - eggy records - cass - 5$

"This tape was conceived of as the sister tape to last year's The Gong Is the Moon on Night-People, further exploring the use of tape loops, synthesizer and homemade electronics in combination with simple song-form, but incorporating field recordings and a more pronounced audio-collage aesthetic. Three tracks; one ten-minute, side-length piece of '60s leaning pop fragments backed by Idea Fire Company-inspired synth drift, and two on the flip using mellow, electronic warble and some noisy crows. Silk screened covers, pro-dubbed tapes."
-Eggy Records

g

street gnar - street gnar e.p. - eggy records - cass - 6$

"Totally breezy, effortless pop. You just slip into it like talking to an old friend. This is the latest missive from the Void Skateshop crew who are ripping it up in Kentucky, totally on a roll right now. Check out the Jovontaes tape if you haven't yet. Street Gnar is hitting the road next month, North-East and Mid-West in early June if you are lucky enough to live in those parts. Silk screened covers, pro-dubbed tapes."
