1 thousand holy shards - untitled - epicene sound systems – cass - 5$
This four peice collective from Atlanta somehow straddles the fence of weird dark folk and industrial factory clunk. Sometimes they get into songs, and i don't mean "almost get into songs", i mean full on songs, vocals, lyrics, guitar parts, the whole deal. While other times they flow seemlessly from the dark side of free folk to some strange ambient factory. this is all together a very mystertious recording.
Cover on copper paper. Ltd to 30.

Gathering around a glowing moment…intent on discovery but distracted by the glorious light that seeps from the merging…so a record is kept to remind of the things thought seen, seen heard. Employing something closer to the sound as it grew, avoiding the clamor of the magnetics and spools…now a binary specter from a mirrored laugh…wasted but prettyComes in a hard card gatefold with hand painted (by the band) canvas stick on.

6majik9 – your friends are a photograph of your future - mymwly – cdr - 10$
another reissue, previously on sloow tapes . here’s what some Italian guy said roughly translated by the babel fish robot – “The far, mysterious Australia has always some secret very guarded. One of these, the 6majik9 has all'.attivo the usual myriad of cassettes and cd-r, roba more or little interesting, chaotic, foolish and via at this rate. Insomma, we are in the norm of "weird-shit music", even if I must admit that this "Your Friends Are To Photograph Future Of Your" possesses an unexpected fascination, for which trying to pull them a po' outside from the basements me seems than right more. Folk of the caverns, impro-noise and "improvised" of quarter hand: one beautiful mix, indeed. The way, says the tracklist, is to the inverse one. Here a foolish paradise, lì the hell that attends there. And this paradise is beautiful brodo primordiale of thoughts scattered, of sonorous events to skids: the Temple Of Bon Matin after the catastrophe, sick finishes them ("Heaven"). A air of ritualismo putrido ("The Ants Are In Jenny' s Sis"), on the background of toxic twilights ("Beyond The Portals, He' s Waiting"). It damages badly to you, wanderers without a goal, play with reverberates and the stratifications, dipped in a radioactive and brulicante world of last fremiti vital - those fremiti behind which not t' aspects at all of being able to trace dark decayed macchinazioni of divinity! Nevertheless... ("You' king Burning My Face"). 6majik9 it is the beauty of the disorder for the disorder, even also with a little electronics for principianti ("Not The Towers"). A beauty that needs of blots some rebellious, by now driven crazy ("Jason Diamond' s"); of objects it votes you to the cause of a destabilizing, anti-academic, rascal and ritualisticamente martial sinfonismo ("Fiancèe"); able, also, to prepare the land for the anti-advent, the bad one-novel (the esalazione space-raga of "Hell", exterminated bridge suspended in an empty cargo of curses). 6majik9 it is, insomma, an other reason in order not to scorn your psychological small turbe.” Exactly.

The hot dust of a thousand atomized strip malls whips into the eyes and ears of all who pass the way of Crossed Bones. Our seasoned guides Brad Rose and Nathan Young clutch their headscarves tighter and drive their guitars even deeper into the blistering earth, if only to anchor themselves momentarily in the bent circuit tempest. Forty minutes featuring twin cabinet-shakers that had us promising the neighbors we weren't testing a new form of sonic weaponry after spinning the demo. Of all Ajilvsga's past and present explorations into heavy mental music, none have grabbed us so quite in the gutz. alasehir - philosophy of living fire – siltbreeze - lp – 14$
Alasehir is the trio of Michael Gibbons, John Gibbons, and Jason Kourkounis, otherwise known as three-fifths of Bardo Pond. Their third release, following a CD apiece for the Important and aRCHIVE labels, Philosophy of Living Fire continues their sonic exploration of dense, languorous, free expansion.
Billowing and exploding like a cluster of hashish stars, the three instrumental tracks produce a cosmic energy akin to a quasar in the heavens far left of Coltrane's OM and just right of the galaxy known as Dead C's Harsh '70s Reality. Released in a one-time edition of 1000 LPs, this is the rocket ride into the outer stratum at which their previous CDs only hinted. So climb aboard and let Alasehir's Philosophy Of Living Fire be your 2007: A Space Odyssey.

altar of flies hails from the snowy world of mjölby, sweden. this moniker of mattias gustafsson (not to be confused with the broken face's mats gustafsson, or the saxophonist of the same name), and throughout "trapped under watter," this swede swims in metallic waves of ecstatic drones. gustaffson concocts washes of noise and feedback and bends them into shape, stretching the limits of each stolen note. this music is as thick like syrup, and just as fucken sweet.

altar of flies / sewer election - loco hills - release the bats – lp – 17$
Two of the best acts currently dwelling in the depths of the Swedish underground scene. Sewer Election should be well-known by now, previous releases includes a split 12" with Incapacitants, cds on Troniks and Chondritic Sound and the amazing Killing-tapes. Altar Of Flies has created quite a buzz over the last year with a huge amount of very limited tape/cd-r releases. On this split LP, Sewer Election contributes with the nasty Rotten Corpse. A crude and disgusting piece. Monotonous, freezing coldness. Altar Of Flies continues with his dark and eerie forest rumblings. Buried claustrophobic lo-fi insanity straight from hell. Heavy outbursts of feedback. Could've been outtakes from an old Dario Argento soundtrack. Mean-spirited ugliness from both bands.

altar of flies - the funeral tapes - 905 tapes - cass - 6$
originally released as a very private press on swedish imprint ksp, the material on "the funeral tapes" was just far to emphatic to stay hidden. mattias gustafsson, the whiz behind the altar of flies moniker, spends about a half an hour conjuring up narcotic vibes and sickly tantrums that boil down to some truly eerie sermons. everything from the layers of creep synth, the dense beats, even the sporadic moments of silence between stabs of feedback all manage to sound abnormal and perfect at the same time. the final track plays like a john carpenter tune (think escape from new york, not ghost of mars) with moments where you could imagine carpenter is attempting to teach free jazz to martians.

amolvacy – ho-ho-kus –black velvet fuckere - lp -14$
"at least pray God to give me patience in my suffering.."
So concludes "Lover Go From Hence", a tale of tumultuous romantic
upheaval on the new Amolvacy record Ho Ho Kus. Here we have hearts
wrenched from guts and firmly planted in the dirt; but also sprouting new
romance, seduction, and... the Church?
And the French???
Francois Rabelais wrote Garantua and Pantagruel - a major influence on
this album - in the early 16th c. to caricature the faux morality of his time.
Amolvacy offer Ho Ho Kus in
the same cantankerous spirit, but this time
perhaps to parody their own morality. Love, marriage, sex, affairs, betrayal,
and loneliness are all exposed in naked vulnerability and placed on the
chopping block for emotional dissection. Lead vocalist Sheila Donovan
(ex-Tall Boys) is a longstanding member of the Laboratory Theater Company
in NYC, and her partners are Aaron Moore of Volcano the Bear and Dave
Nuss of the No-Neck Blues Band. Together they are the Amolvacy Family.
All things were shared in the making of this record, nothing hidden, no secrets
left untold.

antique brothers - vol. 3 hospital daze - foxglove - cdr -7$
the antique brothers have made a lot of racket in the past year, earning praise and accolades from the likes of the wire and the terrascope. but such love is deserved. cyrus and ged gengras are at the head of the latest generation of psychedelic troubadours, leading their clan out of the desert and into the sonic abyss. what sets these brothers apart is that despite the amazing quantity of music they've produced, there's no repition or lax quality to be found. from acoustic, folk-tinged scrunches and vocal exorcisms to flickering drones and blues-inspired fuzz, "hospital daze" finds the brothers gengras poached on vicodin and whirring away through the end of time.

aosuke / black to comm - split - dekorder – lp – 17$
this vinyl-only split-lp release is a meeting of two of the most interesting bands coming out of hamburg, germany at this moment, both continuing the long tradition of both challenging and explorative music coming from this city in the last decades. from krautrock to the origins of the so-called neue deutsche welle from experimental sound artists to some of the finest pop ambient, hamburg is regularly spitting out some of the most singular artists on this planet. both aosuke and black to comm have absorbed influences from all these sources (and a million others) while working towards their very own individual vision.
the two brand new tracks by black to comm are continuing the massive organ/voice drone alchemy of the last double-lp while refining and personalizing his sound, reaching new heights of blazing sonic mysticism.
aosuke have decided to home-record their new material, continuing their loop-oriented, monotone yet highly melodic ambient journeys. working with repetition and small abstractions, all instrumental "loops" are played by hand and recorded live without overdubs (one of the main principles of the guitar/electronics duo), creating surprisingly concrete dormant and somnambulistic soundscapes while fortunately completely lacking the washy and drowsy effects of most ambient music.

Wires and Knives’ is the second release from Apalusa, aka Nottingham
musician Dan Layton.
Composed during time-out between European and UK tours with the band
Souvaris, this 37 minute, 5 track album reveals a clear progression from
the music established on his warmly received debut ‘Small Environs’,
released earlier in 2007. Music boxes, voices and distortion are just
some of the new elements appearing alongside processed guitar and piano within these songs, adding a dark twist to the euphoric nature of the compositions.

Apples and milk. Bittersweet, cozy and mild. That's also the way Apples & Milk sounds on this debut, the six-song EP Master of Disguise...Apples & Milk's careful yet assured approach to acoustic folk-pop, his well-crafted songwriting, tasteful arrangements and warm vocals make Master of Disguise a multifaceted and mature debut, where one after many listens keeps gliding into a soft and welcoming universe. These six songs are the first but certainly not the last we'll hear from Apples & Milk, and the continuation promises to be an exciting one. Like he sings himself: «One can barely see/See that I'm a master of disguise».

following up releases on crocomodile and an exquisite split cassette w/ the mighty acts of god on DNT, jeffrey mitchell's apple snails take a whole new approach on "only a macadam road," and the results are stunning. it's full of ambient drones that sound like they were born in the northern lights. the road is bathed in darkness, but tiny fragments of light seep through the murk every so often in the form of acoustic melodies and glockenspiel bursts. it's music that transports you far, far away. we've been working on this one for what seems like forever... so long in the making that the inserts actually say foxglove132, but good things certainly come to those who have waited for this apple-eyed gem.

astral social club - #17 - self released - cdr - 12$
Taking time out from the works-in-progress schtick, this collection centres around most of an unreleased LP from 2006 (left in limbo due to label never quite getting off the ground) that makes formative excursions into the more phased looping beat aspects of the ASC that have come very much to the forefront in the intervening time. Three of the four more recent tracks that fill this one out take a different tack, and upturn the applecart with beatless overload, bells, multi-speed concussion and the like. The closing track is all handclaps and technoid blats, but reconfigured through a miasma of tone skroink and delay so you'd be hard pressed to get your freak on in any civilised way.

astral social club - model town in a field of mudd - textile - lp - 17$
Model Town in a field of Mud is the result of a collaboration between Neil Cambell and John Clyde Evans.
This album was recorded largely thru the post during John’s year long stay in India. (although the very last few minutes are the duo live in Sheffield right after he returned). This album is a 50/50 collaboration, hopefully the first of many!John Clyde Evans has a lenghty career, even if he did “disappear” for a few years. John was in the band Hood (Domino Recordings) then cut a couple of great solo records, then disapeared, reappearing using his Sikh name of Tirath Singh Nirmala, cutting an LP with Richard Yuongs, then reverting his original name and droping the magnificent “ Apetal Thunderfall” CD on us earlier this year!!
Neil Campbell is a cornerstone of the UK underground and played in Vibracathedral Orchestra, Sunroof, A Band, with Richard Youngs, Damo Susuki and many many other artists.
Despite some esoteric path, Model Town in a field of mud reconfirm John and Neil intentions to blast techno into the Stratosphere

"A split between this two cricked and obtuse noise bands. In one hand AU from the spanish city of Madrid, a band that forces their aggression thru drum-machine programming, and blending analog modified electronic with smart sick rock guitar riffs. "Its the point all earlier Axolotl releases have been aiming for, and achieved fleetingly, stretched out to fill 2 long tracks that satisfy my deep-soak mind like not much else since Wolfgang Voigt disappeared a few years back. But even better, wilder, warmer, more human - like the best ecstatic music, it drags you in and takes you there, but theres the option some days of being able to stand back and admire how its feet are mired in the dirty floor crash pad struggle to pay the rent and get laid and get the portastudio to work properly. Maybe if Wolfgang had wandered not into Köln club scene oblivion, but instead into the German forest his Gas records alluded to, spent a few months eating acorns and hunkering down on a bunch of strange strings, refracting the results through a primitive stack of looping equipment, real boombox tape-saturation mindset, he might have been hitting some similar spots. The Voigt things pertinent, as I know Karls a fan, and Ive been smitten too. Top of my head, Id say M:i:5s “mikrofon”, Gass “Pop” and Alls “Alltag” are his apexes, but a few years ago the guy seemed to be effortlessly redefining music with almost every one of his many many releases. And if you can keep up with the Axolotl release schedule, you may be wondering if Karl isnt capable of working at the same level of easy invention. Different scene, but same balance between mundanity and quest for oblivion, same grace and speed of movement." - Neil Campbell. Karl Bauer is the lone wizard behind this outfit transplanted from Brooklyn to Oakland. This disc is material from a more recent move between Oakland to San Francisco, during which there was a period of isolation and homelessness. For some of this time Karl managed to stay in a hotel where these pieces were recorded. Using his ritual tools of violin and decayed electronics, Karl elicits a new level of emotional psychedelia, of which this disc reveals captivating snapshots of these workings.

bardo pond - batholith – three lobed – lp - 20$
released early march 2008. batholith is a collection of six tracks that are near and dear to bardo pond but, for some reason or another, have never previously been released. that one-sentence description might lead one to think that these tracks are "outtakes" or cutting-room floor type material - neither conclusion could be further from the truth. the tracks included on batholith range from previous live staples ("a tune," one made 'famous' by opening bardo's set at terrastock II in san francisco as joined by roy montgomery [and a recording of which was featured on the KFJC compilation live from the devil's triangle, volume 2]) to tracks the band recorded in john peel sessions ("slip away", also available here as a downloadable .mp3 preview). collected as a whole, these tracks form a fluid and cohesive album. batholith is not just an exciting moment for long time bardo pond fans, but a great jumping on point for folks who are relatively new to their craft.
as per the three lobed standard, batholith is pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. it is housed within heavy "old-style" one-pocket stoughton gatefold jackets bearing new artwork by john gibbons and isobel sollenberger. the record is from an edition of 1049 copies and, and as an added convenience for our vinyl friends, will come packaged with a glass-mastered CD (not CD-R) of the material present on the wax

being & body collector - guile in white heat -skeleton dust – cd – 7$
Gripped this one in a trade with Being at the 517 noisfest 4, the day it was released.
I find myself wondering sometimes if I enjoy harsh noise or not. Alot of times it chan just depend onf how it is presented. Well, this is some really harsh stuff, and I love it.
First of all, the concept to this one is simple, yet awesome. Each artist has a solo track. The artists remix the other artist's track. Then they collaborate on one track at the end. This makes for some great pieces. The packing is simple and straight to the point. Recording info, track names, you know, the essentials. Also has one of those pure black back cases, I rarely see those anymore. The disc is really cool, it is red, and has a very nice texture to it, I wonder what type of paints were used. I really dig the front cover. The only problem I have with the artwork is that it might be TOO minimal. The inside of the cover is totally blank, I think that space could've been utilized to include some more graphics similar to the front cover graphics and really bring the art alive. But other than that, I really enjoy the way this is presented, and the red theme is really cool.
Before hearing this album, i'd never heard or even heard of either artist, so I had no clue what to expect. I like that when listening to an album, no prior knowledge to base an opinion off of, just what I feel when listening. When I put it in, I was genuinly interested in the textures and sounds I was hearing. The original tracks were great, Being's had some of the best work on the album, and Body Collector's included some very great scremaing (hard to identify, but it does sound ike it) and high pitched noises that really lent themselves to the track. I didn't enjoy the remixes as much. Being's remix of Body Collector's "Rotting & Unkept" was alright, but Body Collector's remix of Being "Cold Hands Gripping" seemed to tone down the great song. The collaboration track is a great one, some really great frequencies and textures throughout.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one, I look forward to hearing more from both artists.

All aboard, gang. After 23 months of back-and-forth and waiting/wondering, Zoe and Silvie have finally docked the debut Belly Boat album in NNF harbor, and we are BEYOND happy about it. Dear Robert Hanoy is a scratchy, expansive masterpiece, 14 sung songs of outsider ragtime, rambling European café waltz, and charismatic lyrical chemistry. Influenced equally by Cocorosie, Celine Dion, and Chamillionaire (circa “Ridin’ Dirty”), BB weave piano, accordion, and dueling voices into a freaky, frayed woolen mitten of strange emotions. Put it on, feel weird, throw a snowball. This is a storybook soundtrack for barefoot exploration and natural wonder, culled from years of face-painting, taking pictures of horses, and making best friends laugh. binges – return to whatever – arbor - cdr – 6$
Binges are a hometown favorite here in Chicago. Up until this point their music has existed to the public in one form: the live set. For the benefit of those outside of Chicago, the duo, comprised of drummer Chris Robert and guitar/bass/drum/mic/tape dude Anthony Decanini, recently teamed up with Midwestern Raccoo-oo-oon to cover the west coast with their syncopated improvisations. It is only fitting that their first release be made up of live material(recorded to DAT tape and mastered with the utmost care). Decanini creates a vast number of growing and receding loops from his guitar, bass, contact mic, tapes, and other sources which act as the perfect foil to Robert’s percussion(a serious thing to behold). It isn’t so much one person acting as the leader as much as the two creating an absolute sonic union of sounds blurring the line between free jazz and noise. In an edition of 200 screened CDRs in screened sleeves.

"I can hear things.
"Late at night, if not sufficiently drained from the day, I hear things. Walking to work I hear them too. Increasingly I find that in the fragments of existence that aren't filled to capacity resides a sound, a noise, or perhaps a sensation, and if you can tune out the myriad of competing frequencies, you'll hear it too.
"To describe this sound is a fearsome task indeed. It can rattle like a dish-rack before an approaching earthquake, it buzzes similar to your annoying refridgerator, and sometimes it's the frail squeals of amplifier-damaged ears. But inevitably, its lithe form shifts and avoids apprehension leaving me with a heart-bursting sense of having not quite grasped something of great interest."

black to comm/aosuke - split - dekorder – lp – 17$
this vinyl-only split-lp release is a meeting of two of the most interesting bands coming out of hamburg, germany at this moment, both continuing the long tradition of both challenging and explorative music coming from this city in the last decades. from krautrock to the origins of the so-called neue deutsche welle from experimental sound artists to some of the finest pop ambient, hamburg is regularly spitting out some of the most singular artists on this planet. both aosuke and black to comm have absorbed influences from all these sources (and a million others) while working towards their very own individual vision.
the two brand new tracks by black to comm are continuing the massive organ/voice drone alchemy of the last double-lp while refining and personalizing his sound, reaching new heights of blazing sonic mysticism.
aosuke have decided to home-record their new material, continuing their loop-oriented, monotone yet highly melodic ambient journeys. working with repetition and small abstractions, all instrumental "loops" are played by hand and recorded live without overdubs (one of the main principles of the guitar/electronics duo), creating surprisingly concrete dormant and somnambulistic soundscapes while fortunately completely lacking the washy and drowsy effects of most ambient music.

BLACK FOREST/BLACK SEA is the Providence duo of Jeffrey Alexander (mostly guitar) and Miriam Goldberg (mostly cello). They play free-form music that draws from folk traditions. This is the fourth BF/BS full-length - recorded in Providence, RI, Portland, ME and Montague, MA with guest performances by Italian sound sculptor Stefano Pilia (guitar, tiny sounds) and Miriam's sister Margot Goldberg (phonorgan). Yet another sister - Gillian Goldberg - provides lyrics. Miriam and Jeffrey also incorporate voice, ur-pedal, casio, bul bul tarang and omnichord. "...a half-improvised framework of guitar, cello and sundry accented glitches...a magnificent patchwork tent of bark, calico fabric, twisted vines, and fallen stars...a gorgeous snapshot of the free psych underground, one of the purest spaces of otherworldly terrain in the current musical landscape." - ptchfork

black magic disco - s/t - a silent place - 2xlp - 21$
(mciaa and jackie-o motherfucker)
Black Magic Disco is the new all-star band featuring Tom Greenwood (Jackie-O Motherfucker), Maurizio & Roberto Opalio (My Cat Is An Alien) and Ramona Ponzini (Painting Petals On Planet Ghost, Praxinoscope). The project was born out of an idea from Tom Greenwood, founder leader of the avant-folk-blues ensemble Jackie-O Motherfucker, who invited Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka the Italian improv duo My Cat Is An Alien (MCIAA), and their close collaborator Ramona Ponzini (also involved with the two brothers in the projects named Painting Petals On Planet Ghost and Praxinoscope, as well as in the new collaboration with Z'ev) to perform with him for two months of touring throughout all Europe in May/ June 2005. As one can imagine, the result was killer. The music which came out of the live performances was totally explosive, combining Ramona's Japanese vocals & hypnotic chimes with Greenwood's psych-blues guitar attitude & wild turntablism, over MCIAA's alien cosmic flux of electric guitars, space toys & percussions, creating a still unheard mixture of sounds unifying archaic & post-modern, western & eastern, sky & earth. This debut CD represents a unique chance to experience almost 80 minutes of that pure and magic live action, divided in four long tracks taken from the original live recordings. BLACK MAGIC DISCO's logo comes from the pencil of Roberto Opalio; the gatefold jacket CD artwork, curated by MCIAA contains some band photos taken during the live performances included in the record.

black to comm - ruckwarts backwards - dekorder – lp – 17$
organs, acoustic & electric guitars, pianos, glockenspiel and mbira used on these tracks generate a kind of hyperreal, fake nostalgia playing with one's perception of a pseudo-recollection. the layering and hypnotic repetition of short loops extracted from old psychedelia, free jazz, vaudeville and traditional records reveal a haunting melodic quality sometimes not distinguishable within the original source material, evoking a hovering feeling of bittersweet melancholy with an omnipresent, slightly disturbing atmosphere hidden beneath the surface.
the 8 songs constantly sway back and forth between simple, almost naive arrangements and dense surrreal drones with rare, yet intense distorted climaxes making this album one constantly absorbing listening experience.

bonecloud - galloping moths - noise not music - cass - 7.50$
Bonecloud are the duo of Tim Hurley and Paul Guinan. Galloping Moths is a collection of the offcuts from their self titled album which is slightly more rougher and chaotic than the s/t 2xCDr. There's spiraling loops, harsh guitar riffs and even a little bit of vocals all fed through what seems to be enough effects to last a normal band several years. This one won't last long as most Bonecloud releases sell out fairly quickly.

bones of seabirds - nihyanisyati - anathema sound - cass - 6$
Hailing from Athens, GA, Bones of Seabirds is Ryan McGill. A devout slave to the tube-driven drone, McGill sets aside the axe for two synth passages, one sidelong and one brief, which seek transcendence by swathing the ears with layer upon layer of dark sine waves. The cassette ends by way of a blissful return to the guitar with massive crunch and a melody that grows increasingly sinister until its dizzying finale. With full color artwork, inserts, and labels by Matt Yacoub.

boris morgana – rotti frutti – ikuisuus – cdr - 10$
I gave a kiss to a giant leech. It sucked me in. With a little effort, I wriggled to its opposite end and out into a different world, but I can't say how it differed from the one before. Likewise, all the atoms and other bits of matter that pass through us - that we swallow and transform - bear more or less fresh fruit, as they are reborn through us. Boris Morgana's Rotti Frutti is not just an oral delight, it's aimed at the whole organism. It percolates, hisses, comes and goes: gently as well. Furtively it infiltrates the brain through the ears and causes reactions. And maybe these inner oscillations move on to the hands, feet and other organs: maybe they carry the germ of a wholly new fruit. When it comes about, it's too late: everything has changed and one can't but accept it - allow the rotten fruit to issue forth.

boris morgana – liquid child – qbico - lp- 23$
"When i went in Finland for the 1st qbico u-nite in Turku, i met Taneli (sax player) who gave me this strong rec. of his group Boris Morgana... after hearing few sec. of it, i immediatly thought that it was alone worth the trip up North: heavy stuff and pretty unique in his kind !"

Here’s an assemblage of seemingly disparate recordings, including one tale of selling clam chowder to the Russians. It’s not instrumental per se, but, as the title suggests, contains 'no sung words.' Think of it as the appetizer for what David Brant (you’ve seen him playing bass in Vollmar) has up his sleeve with this exciting new project.

brothers of the occult sisterhood - suppress (detached) orchestra - students of decay – lp – 14$
"Suppress (Detached) Orchestra" is the vinyl debut for Australia's
Brothers of the Occult Sisterhood. BOTOS is centered around
Michael Donnelly and a revolving cast of free thinkers who exist
collectively as musicyourmindwillloveyou and have released a myriad
of post-psychedelic free drone action on a wide variety of formats,
culminating with "Goodbye," released in 2006 by Digitalis.
The LP consists of two side-long freakouts, the first recorded in
2006 by the latest incarnation of the group, and the second by the
original duo lineup of Michael and his sister Kristina, recorded in 2004.
Because of this difference, both temporal and in personnel, each side
is immediately distinct in sound. Lurching, shamanistic percussion,
sonorous cello, snarling, blistering psych guitar, shambling piano,
and a wealth of other heaving, joyous sounds congeal and morph
in this fascinating journey through the minds of Australia's most
wrecked sons and daughters.

buck paco - ive wasted my breath - abandon ship records – 3" cdr - 5$
"Over the last ten or so years, Buckland Oswald Paco and company have amassed a collection of recorded material in excess of 100 songs (for lack of a better word).
About 95 percent of which have never been released. Falling short of wasting no part of the animal, the band have done their best to whittle down their portfolio small enough to fit the three-inch format.
Clocking in at somewhere in the 20+ minute range, "I've Wasted my Breath" is a rather abridged, but cherry-picked survey of The Buck Paco Band's catalogue.
All the slag has been neatly scraped away, leaving five solid gems on which to ruminate just long enough to realize the disc is already over and you need to start it up again."

budweiser sprite - marble barbarian - archivo de sangre de dios - cass - 10$

bulbs - light ships - freedom to spend - cd - 12$
Anyone familiar with the CDR label, JYRK, that I ran from 2001-2006, would know that I have long been a fan of William Sabiston’s music. As a member of Axolotl, as a filmmaker, or on his own, as ball lightning, he’s delivered the goods.
William formed Bulbs with Jon Almaraz in 2005, shortly after his leaving Axolotl and shortly following Jon’s move from Bakersfield to San Fran. Jon was a younger, ambitious guitarist just hitting the big city. Apparently the pairing was destiny, William’s beating-around-the-bush electronic drum styles mesh perfectly with Jon’s ultra-processed minute guitar jabs.
Bulbs hovered around the SF underground for a few years, only occasionally releasing hints at what they were capable of. I received a cassette, “Anela Of Tailoo Too,” which left me feeling like I had been punched in the gut. The music was light years away from anything else in the underground scenes they were occupying.
Light Ships finds bulbs at their most psychedelic and pointillistic. They occupy an odd space between the gloss of Kompakt records minimalism, the glue huff ambiguity of a band like Mouthus, and the stuttering clicks and confusion of a Han Bennik/Derek Bailey duo. There’s a lot of movement from more acoustic to more electronic sounds, from more straight rhythmic patterns to totally elliptical percussive gurgling, from understanding what’s going on to not having any sort of idea who is doing what to whom. Despite all these shifts and potential contradictions, the music manages to be entirely cohesive and the record is surprisingly easy on the ears. Everything here has its place.

bulls blood - mondyeth- foxglove -cdr -7$
transplanted from omaha to korea via minneapolis, bull's blood's quiet compositions come from the mind of charles lareau (who also records as das torpedos). stuck in a canvas bag and beaten to smithereens, bull's blood reconstructs these soggy pieces into a ramshackle house of cards. a sense of urgency plagues each of these 11 songs. armed with varying tape loops, acoustic guitars, shambolic percussion, vocals, and god knows what else, "mondyeth" is drenched in the earth's turf. it's as though lareau's spirit is singing like a masked heathen from the grave. 100 copies (foxglove/digitalis)

burial hex - menstrual hoax- cut hands - cdr - 11$
Super bleak slab of muddy graveyard electronics by the man who helms the Skulls of Heaven label as well as rock his cock out with the likes of Zodiac Mountain, Hintergedanken and Jex Thoth. Clay Ruby finds the path that leads through the frostbitten trails of early Industrial pioneers but with a bit more of a sickening feel throughout. As if he’s purposely trying to nauseate the listener with geysers of bubbly noise. On Menstrual Hoax, Clay Ruby aka Wyrdskull hooks us up with two tracks, one is a studio recording and two live jammers packed in one thunderous caveman electronics track. The collaboration with Mumber Toes is extra sick, feels like drowning in blackened quicksand. End life. 80 copies in square dvd cases with b&w artwerk and insert.
