imperfect masters - no one knows why - students of decay – cdr – 7$

Hot on the heels of their FANTASTIC "Strike Out" album, released by Foxglove
earlier this year, Robert Horton and Dan Plonsey return with another
brilliant set of dialogues. On "No One Knows Why," Plonsey handles reeds,
brass, and fiddle primarily, while the ever-wiley Horton makes use of his
seemingly limitless bag of soundmaking devices, both musical and non-musical
alike. The sounds here range from zoned, post-ESP Disk jazz to gorgeous,
overtone-laden, intricately textured string/reed drone workouts. Ultimately,
these recordings feel like earnest conversations between two old friends
whose effortless rapport can come only from years and years of dedicated and
impassioned collaboration. We're lucky to have the privilege of eavesdropping.

inhibitionists – concession strings - mymwly – cdr - 10$

From Christian Kann, head honcho at BSBTA , comes this gorgeous collection of abstract sonic assemblages. Spiraling plumes and sheeting alien blasts lay out like the rooms in some grand mansion, filled with fuzzy visions and cloudy memories…broken music built into dark places…making for a deeply immerse and rewarding journey.
Comes with artwork by the inhibitionists and felt innards.

inseminoid - a mask for jennifer -at war with false noise – cdr – 6$

First (I think?!) record from this horrible meeting of the two unstable minds of Lee Stokoe (Culver) and George Proctor (Mutant Ape). This comes across very much as a great sum of parts from this pair: vaccuous tunnels of stasis and repetitive crumbling walls of horrific noise assault. It all sounds a bit like the beginning of Terminator II, y'know, when the big tank things are crushing the MOUNTAINS OF SKULLS. To quote Donald Tardy of Obituary: heavier than a bag of donkey's balls.
Completely at odds with the holocaustal music contained within, this is packaged in sickeningly garish covers drawn by Tisbor in my kitchen as the cabinet collapsed on top of me. Bright yellow vellum backs and full colour Girls Aloud tribute CDrs! 100 copies.

io : at land - io audio - cdr & dvdr - 10$

As well as being the debut release on the io-audio label, “At Land” is an audio/visual document of io’s live performance at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art this summer. Its guitar generated textures are complemented by voice, chimes, buddha box, as well as other gadgets and sonic sources to form a dynamic ambient wash containing both depth and detail. This is complemented by the video, a hazy collection of color and light which gently coalesces into a series of slow motion descents into ocular narcolepsy. The 45 minute piece is packaged as a DVDr / CDr set, housed with a vellum insert inside a handcrafted wooden box, wrapped with a burlap and copper strap, and strictly limited to 68 copies. Recommended for those with a taste for drones, loops, and sedatives.

is - all class - community college - cass - 5$

In late 2006 Bryan Tholl recorded a masterpiece. All Class is an aggressive and vigorous journey through the sonic template of Is. Unequal to his present work, though not in quality, All Class showcases this dynamic artists use of silence, harsh walls, and the subtleties of feedback and static explosions. This is the sound of your own death, suffocating in a grave of decaying speakers, sparks and filth.

ezra jacobs- krkkl - cut hands - 3" cdr - 8$

Another Dutch talent in the Cut Hands stable that I’m very proud of. Dude built a synth into an old Soviet geiger counter, check this picture, I wouldn’t mind having that on my coffee table! Krkkl moves like a thick mudslide stuffed with mutated synths, sheets of metal being stroked, brushes of cello, shortwave transmissions that get massively interrupted by swirling effects and even some algorhythmic programming type stuff. Serious mindfuck potential. Jacobs manages to piece it all together into a cohesive and extremely overwhelming 24 minutes. A definite highlight in the current Dutch noise scene. Edition of 40 copies, in tiny polyvinyl sleeves with shady artwerk by Bas van Huizen.

More simply stellar solo endeavors from UK underground stalwart
Mr. Andy Jarvis - proprieter of the consistenly fantastic First Person
imprint, member ofSculptress, and Phil Todd co-conspirator in Warm
Palindrome. Those familiar with Andy's stunningly evocative acoustic
works are surely in for a surprise here. "Tectonique du Corps" is a blast
of crackling feedback, beautifully wrecked percussion, gorgeous analog
dronefests and hypnotic low-end shuffle. Absolutely essential.

A. jarvis – she is also phasing- peasant magik - cass - 5$

Three tracks of total John Carpenter worship. Sweeping synths, pulsing bass lines, and Kurt Russell. Had he just done something as simple as rework the soundtrack to Escape from New York, this would still be essential. Instead, he takes Carpenter's classic blueprint and somehow manages to incorporate elements from all of his previous work at once: swells of feedback, analog shimmer, and subtle, but damaged, percussion. Like all of his previous work, this is absolutely perfect. High bias chrome tapes, pro-printed covers.

jazzfinger/culver & fordell research unit - split - blackest rainbow – lp - 20$

Brand new split LP featuring heavy hitting UK bleak dudes... A-Side is Jazzfinger's 'Killed In A Clear Sky', one solid slab of fucked up tapped guitar drone and distant errie whir... like a storm of electric feedback, slashes and cuts. Far out, and a real killer 20 odd minutes to make you lull out. B-Side is a collaboration between Culver and Fordell Research Unit, another side long piece, that starts off with some bassed up doom chugs and slogs that sound like fucking something that could lay down by some Southern Lord brutality, but then it punches you in the face with its distorted churning hell. Limited to 280 white label LPs in black sleeves with hideous brutal artwork by French.

jazzfinger - wixxon flag bearer- dnt records - cdr -5$

Jazzfinger, from the UK, have been making music for quite some time now. The main thing that I've noticed about them, is that they never stay put with just one sound. Their sound can change from song to song even. The first song on this cdr has a keyboard (or is it a melodica?) drone, changing chords a few times, with a guitar or other screeching sound over it. The second song continues right where the first one left off, this one is a quarter of an hour long. This time, it builts up in substance, with some drumming from cans and various toys. The next few tracks continue the calmness, and five songs in a piano joins the mix, with pots-and-pans drumming. Water-color splashes over a weird drawing of heads. Edition of 100

jerusalem and the starbaskets / hush arbors - the great pop supplement - 7 " - 9$

Next up on the Great Pop Supplement, comes a mighty 45 pairing longtime Missouri friends Jerusalem and the Starbaskets and Hush Arbors.
A fabulous band, JATS debut here with the formidable “I Cannot Radiato Without You”. A spiky 2 chord blast clocking in at under 2 minutes of perfect pop. Acting as a taster for the stunning “Battle of the Orchids” imminent full length (on the GPS soon), the band merge the ferocity of the Sonics with the tenderness of Galaxie 500 or 3rd album Velvets. Wacked out, often ferocious, psych blues- a taster from which appears here.
Hush Arbors’ recent expansion to a two piece, debut here on vinyl, with “Mr. Bones”, another gem from the songwriting genius of Keith Wood. A gentle acoustic opening gives way to a fuller, perhaps busier, 12 string laced sound- not unlike some unreleased nugget from the Gene Clark “Roadmaster” sessions where he coaxed the original Byrds to reconvene for one last time on wax….
Very limited vinyl only 45, on split ‘one half orange, one half green’ vinyl. Get on it!

'Sounding like Laddio Bolocko playing Aufgehoben's songs, this amazing quartet shares a seriously mindblowing connection with the huge underground noise scenery in the United States. This half-an-hour free-form session between these Ohio-based dudes is a long electroshock torture which features Yeh (experimental violinist/electronic musician with a highly growing reputation around the world) playing bass here, Jewell (experimental drummer/electronic musician also involved in Pink Reason and Psychedelic Horseshit) on drums/electronic junk and John Rich/Jon Lorenz (Wasteland Jazz Unit) totally immersed in a hyper-amplified and nihilistic sax playing. kark - the hermit - hp cycle – lp - 15$

Debut album from this massive free ensemble from Louisville which features a revolving cast of over 50 musicians including members of Sapat, Valley of Ashes, Virgin Eye Blood Brothers, Son of Earth, Taiwan Death and the Belgian Waffles. The Hermit consists of three extended pieces that offer spaciously abstract atmospheres as well as moments of righteous cacophony. Utilizing a multitude of brass, reeds and percussion the album careens through numerous passages where intricate harmonics are created from the densely layered sounds. When the full force of the ensemble is unleashed individual elements appear and quickly recede into the squall. As the music nearly becomes unhinged, the sound disintegrates into a godzilla-like rockist thud propelled by the rhythm section and soaring horns before drifting to a sparse conclusion. The LP comes in a full colour jacket with homespun artifacts gracing the cover.

leslie keffer - feels like frenching - ecstatic peace - lp - 11$

When Leslie Keffer lived in Athens, OHIO she was asked about the noise scene there. “You’re looking at it”, she responded. Indeed. Leslie is one of the more fascinating proponents of homegrown Middle America noise music. A single girl drawn to the more ravaged and magical aspects of noise as source music, art and lifestyle. She has since moved to Nashville where she has been developing and progressing her personal take on what is basically a highly marginal genre of music. Her inputs are radio transmission wave-noise, the living aura of Lindsay Lohan, punk, pop, Madonna, her amazing girlfriends and defiltering the terror of male-centric Power Electronic depravity and goon-ism. Her last two No Fun festival performances, in duo with Thurston Moore in 2006, and the Noise into dance beat into ‘Where’s The Party’ slumber party freak out where all the noise girls fem-exorcised an already somewhat de-clawed noise misogynist is already legendary. Leslie’s sound has been heard on various cassette labels (Rampart, Gameboy, I Just Live Here, Epicene, Cherried-out Merch) and most recently her own imprint Action Claw. She has issued a number of hand-made CDRs with her own touch of knitted fabric pouches. She has two tracks on the 2XCD Tarantula Hill Benefit (Ecstatic Peace E#107), one with Baltimore’s Nautical Almanac who have been championing Leslie’s work for years now. We are only too happy to release this premier full-length LP of Leslie’s demonstrating where she’s been and where she’s going. More releases are coming: an Ecstatic Peace cassette limited edition with Leslie performing live one side with Thurston Moore in Columbus, Ohio and the other with Kim Gordon in Easthampton, Massachusetts. And then the 12” dance noise jammer. That’s when the party fucking hits! Beware.Cover painting by Adriane Schramm. Comes with double-sided laser printout insert.

keijo - flying over- digitalis - cd -12$

The godfather of the Finnish Underground is back with his most complete album to date. Keijo Virtanen's far-reaching hands can be felt throughout the Nordic peninsula from his home in Jyväskylä. While he often performs in numerous groups such as The Free Players and Kheta Hotem, it is in his solo work that he is most accomplished. Virtanen is not just a talented and prolific musician, but also and artist and published author. His inspiration and creativity know no bounds. At 54 years-old, Virtanen still rides his motorcycle all over the country and shows no signs of letting up.

V irtanen finally took his show on the road this past autumn, touring with members of Uton and Vapaa throughout Northern Europe. He also released two CDs on the much heralded Last Visible Dog imprint. "Flying Over" is the culmination of a landmark year for this troubadour. These nine tracks run the gambit of all of Keijo's talents, from the rattling blues transgressions of "On the Edge," to the throatsinging-laced organic drone of "Late Night Here & Far Away," and completed with the harmonium-laced " Virtanen's range is pure magic.

While the bulk of "Flying Over" is entirely Virtanen's creation, he is joined by two of his closest collaborators on two tracks: Sami Virtanen and Jussi Karsikas, two extremely talented Finns in their own right. Whatever the moment calls for, though, Virtanen fills the void and the empty space with exactly what is needed. He is a wizard of sound and a seemingly endless well of magnificent music. It shouldn't be surprising for someone who makes their home at the center of the universe.

jeremy kelly - s/t - digitalis recordings - special edition cd + cdr - 17$

I first met Jeremy Kelly at Bottled Smoke back in May and subsequently got to know him via email over the summer. Simply put, he's an incredible artist and musician. There's a few things you should know... first, he's an effects-building wizard. He makes a lot of his own stuff, giving his music unique sounds and textures. Also, he's one hell of a guitar player with one hell of a nice guitar. Third, his circuit-bending wizardry also lends its hand to his mighty Doepfer modular synth, which has its tendrils weaved all throughout his debut CD. So keeping all these things in mind, we're extremely excited to be offering up Jeremy's first proper CD release.

This self-titled effort is a cohesive conglomeration of a dizzying array of styles, recorded beautifully by Ged Gengras (Antique Brothers) with help from Grant Capes ((VxPxC)) out in Los Angeles. Gengras even joins in on saz at one point, concocting a hypnotic Middle-Eastern jam that feels baked in the scorching desert sand. Add in some blues-infused acoustic ragas that throw a nod to Ben Chasny's Six Organs of Admittance and glazed walls of analog noise, and you're somewhere in the ballpark of this album. It's all over the place, but never too far from the path Kelly has laid down for himself. This is some serious magic.

david kirby - inside it is ringing - students of decay – cdr – 7$

This is it. Long in the making, we have here THEE definitive statement (for the time being) from Atlanta, Georgia
soundwizard David Kirby. And God, it's a monster. "Inside, it is Ringing" is born of the same brain erasing dust
as his recent "Shrieks Against the Glass Pt. 2" and his work in the Wire Thicket duo. However, this record transcends
those previous outings in every possible way. Kirby offers cavernous drones, alien rumblings and static depth
charges here that could level mountains. His recording processes are as hermetic as they are obsessive, and, like
the work of all the finest craftsmen, nothing is superfluous. Play impossibly loud. Inhale the vapors.
And float the fuck away.

kk rampage / monitors - split - dnt records - 3" cdr - 4$

"March’s battle of Monitors v. KK Rampage provides nine tracks of experimental, yes, but totally premeditated and practiced RnR. Of like mind, Missouri’s Monitors and Chicago’s KK Rampage give-up four and five tracks, perfect 7” EPs of jagged post-punk familiar to GSL, 31G, and related rosters of Southern California noise-makers. Monitors’ wordless approach is dominated by Polvo guitar and tom-tom racing on complete tracks like “Tycho Brahe” and the six-minute jam “Demophon”, a bit of keyboard added to the latter’s airy lead-in, and with more grind-and-lurk on the opposing tracks. The VSS grind of “Dark Desire” links both bands as the trebly, discordant replies of the band to the pained pleas of KK Rampage vocalist Johnny Rampage recall many the AmRep band, particularly Hammerhead, and late-90s California like early Rapture; “A Fading Moment” is so sincere it could be a cover for all I know, and “Teeth Like a Knife” is a fine, Factory-style closer with dance bass-line and entrenched vocals before a group sing-along among the downpour of crashing cymbals. Rad! Two full bands of 2xgtr/bass/drum formation, they may prove to be the only classic rockers in the series." (review by Animal Psi)

klangmutationen - liturgie - dreamsheep records - cdr - 12$

'One of the most outstanding/uncompromising jazz collectives circulating right now is (without any doubt) Klangmutationen. Coming from the Eastern side of the world, they suddenly remind us of noise legends such as Masayuki Takayanagi, Kaoru Abe and Kousokuya. But you should consider them an exception because they come from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and they play 'organic free metal' (!). 'Liturgie' is a black ritual devoted to schizophrenia and otherworldly meditation which clocks at around 20 minutes. It is a burning candle for Shiva. For all you listeners, a final suggestion is to turn off the lights and immerse yourself into this deep black hole. CDR comes in a limited edition of 150 copies.'

koi pond - volcano - is night people – cass - 5$

Koi Pond is a three piece from NYC made up of some generally awesome dudes. Erik Roper plays bass and is a legendary artist/illustrator who does work for numerous bands, labels and publications such as Arthur, Southern Lord etc. while also playing in other bands such as Under Satans Sun and Mattalama. Pete Vogal plays synth while also jamming in Bow Ribbons, and designs arwork for clothes, David Aron plays drums, is the perpetrator for Little Cakes Gallery, used to skateboard alot, makes rad visual artwork, and jams in USUN with Mark Borthwick and Hisham Bharoocha.  Despite these dudes epic resumes, Koi Pond is epic all on its own. Volcano is all about cosmic grooves, deep often minimal, endless repetitions that slowly evolve into more psyched out blissed out trances. Roper and Arons tight rhythmic foundations create the perfect backdrop for Vogal's synth improvisations. This is a meditative listen that never gets old, it just keeps grooving on and on forever. Imagine... a SOLO album! Some kind of loose-as-hell rumination on human tragedy of a magnitude beyond imagining. Take the everlasting, golden-superchord of Birchville Cat Motel, the growling tectonic, under-par riffage of Black Boned Angel, and the 'Burzum-o-phonic', cassette-left-on-the-dashboard fidelity disruption of Ming. kraken fury - bun in earth - rampart tapes - 2xcdr - 7$

Incredibly ambitious home-recorded prog instrumentals in the vain of late-80s SST bands nobody has ever listened to. Thad Watson, who played bass on Warmer Milks' Radish on Light (TMU, 2006), is the sole instrumentalist behind these obscure grooves. Recommended for the three people who were really into the First Attempt CDr, and anyone who's into "that guitar tone."

Krygyz - s/t - digitalis - cd -12$

Kyrgyz is a name that will be unfamiliar to most, but the band's members read like an all-star team of Bay Area improvisers. This quartet consists of Tom Carter (Charalambides), Loren Chasse (The Blithe Sons, Thuja, etc), Christine Boepple (Skygreen Leopards Skyband), and Robert Horton (Broken Mask, Infinite Article, etc). Kyrgyz's debut album is 60 minutes of droned-out bliss. With its roots firmly planted in trance-inducing soil, the six songs here stretch their branches toward the sun.

When four artists of this caliber come together in a single setting, the expectations are high. There is tension to spare. But Kyrgyz is such a perfect blend of all their talents that it never implodes beneath the pressure. Horton is the hand that guides this mix of heavy, hypnotic drones, a thicket of acoustic scrawl, and even free jazz skronk.. After preliminary mixes from Chasse created a thick organic atmosphere, Horton took that feeling and ran with it. Each sound is carefully chosen and blended together magically. There are equal elements of Charalambides and Jewelled Antler throughout Kyrgyz, but again it is Horton that upsets the balance to create something completely new. In the end, this is nothing short of brilliant. (foxglove/digitalis)

stefan kushima - don't touch the walls - blackest rainbow – cdr - 11$

Kushima is a nearly 23 year old experimental visual and audio artist from Linz, Austria. On his debut release for Blackest Rainbow he creates minimal bliss wavering drones with minimal metallic vibes and fuzzed glows washing in and out. Sounds like Stefan was making these sounds somewhere in space or deep in the ocean and somehow it got recorded far away from the actual source. Its a real blissful nice gem from yet another unknown artist out there in the ether. Comes in classic BR sleeve designed by Stefan.

la otracina - therisk of gravitation colour sounds recordings -cdr - 8$

Description: “The Risk Of Gravitation” is the stunning new Summer 08 Tour mini-album by Brooklyn’s LA OTRACINA, who have long wandered and forged sounds in the hidden lands of heavy psychedelia and progressive space music. This 7 track 32+ minute excursion is a major paradigm shift for the group as drummer Adam Kriney is now on vocal duties as well, adding yet another layer of epic intensity to the swirling chaos of Evan Sobel’s Fender Bass VI low-end destruction and new guitarist Philippe Ortanez’s ecstatically angular bliss-out. This disc shifts between tracks of classic LA OTRACINA free-form freakout brilliance and their current vocal-heavy jams, which put the progressive psych back into early heavy metal while exploring realms of dark doom-sludge thunder and the graceful complexity of early Canterbury jazz-rock. Refusing to be quantified, it is clear that LA OTRACINA remain in an orbit of their own, seeking out the cosmic weird and channeling it through hard rock power! First press limited edition of 100 numbered copies.

The fourth release form Melbourne’s

strangeness. The songs on ‘Magic Food’ are cloaked in a rich layered mess of
percussive joy, broken guitars and keyboards. The songs find their way
through the layers of mud, starching and scraping, expressing a darkness
that is coupled with a subtle lightness, bringing forth a bombardment of
tonal anxiety and hermit induced weirdness. The cd-r also features a cover
version of Gareth Williams and Mary Currries ‘Generous Moon’. Hand made

last of the real hardmen - darkness - low point – cdr – 9$

‘Darkness’ is the latest release from Last of the Real Hardmen, the solo guise of Nottingham guitarist Chris Summerlin (Lords, Wolves of Greece, Reynolds, Felix).  Following on from his warmly received audio travel diary ’10,000 Miles’, released on Bird War Records in October 2006, here Chris presents 13 improvised tracks, recorded direct to four track cassette using treated electric guitars.  These freeform compositions mark a sinister and shadowy contrast to the buoyant acoustic guitar playing of previous releases and demonstrate a further expansion in style of Chris’ musical palette.

For fans of Loren Mazzacane Connors, late John Fahey and Tom Carter.

little women - teeth - gilgongo records - lp - 10$

“Official BIO”: Brooklyn quartet Little Women formed two years ago to create music that blurs the line between structure
and spontaneity. The group’s sound distilled from a broad range of influences that stretch from classic Chicago free jazz
thru pop music, punk rock, math metal, and harsh noise. Little Women never stop pushing into new sonic territory: splitting
overtones to create ghost notes, violently disassembling their instruments onstage, and attacking written and improvised
material with equal ferocity. During performances band members often experience side-effects more commonly
associated with prescription drugs such as nausea, dizziness, and internal bleeding. Little Women stomp all over
genres, creating some of the most adventurous, in-the-moment, wrenchingly honest music of their generation.

"Teeth" is 20 minute piece, recorded in one long, single take, covering an impressive range of sound, and is an intense
and dynamic presentation of what they are doing as a band. Art work by MICK BARR (Orthrelm, Crom-Tech, Ocrilim, etc).

Also: Members of Little Women have recorded and/or performed with some of the top names in jazz/improvised music such
as: Anthony Braxton, Steve Lacy, Mark Dresser, Jim Black, Trevor Dunn, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, George Garzone,
Chad Hugo (The Neptunes), Gerry Hemingway, Joe Morris, Matt Wilson, Michael Formanek, Mat Maneri, and Dave Koz.
Members of Little Women also play in bands such as Zs, Extra Life, Cutter, Period, Archaeopteryx.

long legged woman- the end of false religion - thor's rubber hammer - cdr - 5$

Something totally different for the soulful blues-skuzz guitar/drum 'n tapes duo. Two sick drones: one for solo tape, the other for guitar and bass that sounds like Keiji Haino had an overbloated, allergic reaction to a boombox dub. 40 minutes. Next album's supposed to be more song-based and psychedelic (!). These kids are like the Boris of Athens: you never know what noise they're gonna tear a new one next. LLW rules. Artwork lifted from an old, tattered Emily Brontë dust-jacket slipped into a 5x6 plastic sleeve.

long legged woman- something is pressing against it from the inside b/w scalpels in the sky - thor's rubber hammer - 7" - 7$

"Something is Pressing" marks the official introduction of the four-man Long Legged Woman. A lot has changed in just two years with the band recording everything from swampy blooze-rock and tape collage-noise to ghostly psych-folk. And now the band has moved from its home in Athens, Georgia to San Francisco. The A-side is almost like something out of the early SST Records catalog, a mid-tempo trash-punk anthem with a busted-teeth smile. The psych-pop dirge on the B-side was originally released on a CDR already out of print, and for all intents and purposes, is the prettiest song Long Legged Woman's ever written. Live photo collage by Alex Cargile. Pressed on random-colored marble vinyl. Edition of 300.

lsd march - empty rubious red - tequila sunrise - lp - 19.50

*european manufactured 180 gram lp housed in a stoughton old-style jacket with j-card style obi. limited edition of 1000.

we have a friend who works for a high-end publicly-traded kids clothing maker up in manhattan, and last month they had her attend a seminar on forecasting trends for the next two years. and what did their high-priced european haruspex predict? that the dominating look for next year’s lines will be…freak folk. for real. In fact, it’s happening right now – even as we speak, beardos are shambling down the runways in milan and paris. and if in a few months time you see little kids running around looking like amish grad students, you’ll understand.

but that’s just the transatlantic axis. what about japan? japan’s fashion scene is so wildly on-another-planet, it can’t even be inserted into a rational framework or timetable – are they a day ahead of us, or ten years?

in order to stay ahead of the curve, the next tequila sunrise release will be a new lp, empty rubious red, by japanese avant-pysch artists lsd march. for those of you already living a couple of years ahead of the rest of us, you will know that this will be the fifth full length by this band, and that it was originally released in 2006 on their own white elephant imprint (a longer version of empty rubious red was reissued later that year as a limited edition cd on the incredible archive label), both versions sold out in about a minute.

It’s actually more like a solo outing by lsdm front-man shinsuke michishita (on voice, guitar, bass and percussion), accompanied on two tracks by legendary drummer ikuro takahashi (high rise, fushitsusha, tamio shiraishi, kosokuya, che-shizu, maher shalal hash baz, nagisa ni te, etc). most of the songs here are intimate, in-your-inner-ear ballads, hypnagogic and melancholic, achy hangovers from the third velvets LP – sorrowful birds on the last tree in the universe, thinking themselves into being, then forgetting themselves, then remembering again. except for the title track, that is – an 8-minute doppler-effect trance that gets you wasted on polonium 210, sets the dials of the kabbalah for the heart of the sun, and clicks “send.”

we could describe the overall sound here as late night psych. It’s a pretty hackneyed term at this point, but try to remember how it used to be a downright poetic handle for the genre, conjuring those sleepless hours between 3 and 5 a.m. when the acid-drenched mind emits showers of sparks into the abyss. Light fuse and get away!

we don’t know what sorts of children’s clothing we’ll see when trend analysts start recommending late night psych as the compass for designers, but it’s bound to be interesting. just remember, when you see saucer-eyed tots on the deck of a starship with their heads plugged into andromeda, you heard it here first.
