sachiko - kunado utech - cd – 12$

Japanese vocalist and instrumentalist Sachiko (Overhang Party, Vava Kitora, Kosokuya) looses a second, white-hot solo release. Her brilliant debut You Never Atone For on There/Musik Atlack rode gilded wings straight to the heart of the psych sun. The journey continues with Kunado. A tincture of Taj Mahal Travellers, wispy oscillations and lysergic vocals bathes the recording in delicate atmosphere as Sachiko's sonic attack leaves vicious and harrowing results. A listen not soon forgotten.

saints - umbanda - abandon ship records – cass - 5$

Jarringly intense noise-with-a-purpose from this Californian duo. Hold onto your butts.

"Like pulling the sun with a beast drawn plow through a lush jewel field in wet-diamond South America with Macumban's mambo bassdrum looking for a T. Rex in the moonflood. Bend down low."

s

saint francis and the christmas donkey- how saint francis tamed the very fierce wolf of gubbio - thor's rubber hammer - cdr - 5$

Ben Collins is a free-improv guitarist who takes his cues from Loren Connors and Derek Bailey. Upon first hearing Keiji Haino's noise-rock band Fushitsusha and discovering, though not hearing, the drone-metal movement of the last few years, Collins set to work on creating a live, one-man interpretation of the two. In one 40-minute single track, Gubbio attempts to balance the rigid, composed nature of metal and the fun, free expression of improv. Its three somewhat distinct sections move through raging guitar feedback, meditative and metallic drone and an extended battle-drum climax that's as powerful as it is restrained. Black ink on red vellum cover with a black CDR on black heavy cardstock.

sand rattle kins - 13 steps from kava conch - chocolate monk - cdr - 10$

This is a glorious weirdy. When i sniffed these baltimore dweebs out first time they were going by the name Mongol Wives, but somewhere down the track they decided enough of the exotic brides tag and one of them oozed out the name Sand Rattle Kins, so here we are... I don't know if there is a Little Finland located in Crabtown, but I doubt it. Thing is this great little batch of audio whoopee sounds like Tomutonttu edited together by some cracked out kid with ADD,, and thats not a bad thing. Get in on it!

sanguine piss - no horse shit - 905 tapes - cass - 6$

saw these dudes for the first time as a cohesive unit at a recent wiese / wether gig in philadelphia. i've been seeing mat perform as newton for a minute, and known jared for what seems like a decade. in recent years i've been floored by some one-off collabs he has done with matt franco and skeleton warrior, so i was way interested in finding out what those two dudes plus cohort marc zajack (deep fried tapes) had in store. their setup was fairly minimum... some mixers, pedals, and a couple of guitars tuned to untuned. from second one though the most enormous sounds ruptured through the room. i mean, shit was gigantic. every once in a blue moon you could think to yourself "oh, i think that sound is coming from that", but usually it was just a vulgar mess. asked to do a tape while smoking weed out of an apple in the back of the store, even though i remember there being a pipe earlier. i guess that just fit.

s

sapat - mortise and tenon – siltbreeze - lp – 14$

...for this self-titled full-length release, Sapat has opted for a different, more organic sonic waft. Acoustically packed to the gills, the octet effortlessly strums and blows breezy vibes, emitting kosmisch melodies and Teutonic ambience that channel -- Julian Cope-like -- past giants such as Limbus 4, Siloah and Lord Krishna Von Goloka (you know, the A-team of Krautrock). Once you launch into the group's spacey and entrancing, yet calming and soothing asteroid belt, you might mistake the Ozarks for the Alps if you're not careful. And who could blame you? You're way up there and the air's thin; hallucinating's a must.

sarah's charity – code of red twin – arbor - cdr –7$

Among the metal forests of Denmark, there is Sarah’s Charity.  A maelstrom of expert tone work and free electricity; sounds so electric, yet still reminiscent of the flowing natural growth of fellow Danes Family Underground (it should be noted that Nicolas of FU helps out on track 2).  This naturalism plus the actual sterility create a feeling nothing short of psychedelic.  A wall of intense oscillation and soothing vacuous space ala Marcia Bassett’s various projects.  Speaking of Marcia, SC is also famed for being the only non Bassett/Bower related project to be released on the esteemed Heavy Blossom label.  In a numbered edition of 150 copies in absolutely beautiful mind tripping deluxe screened sleeves by Dylan Martorell, with screened discs and an insert.

t

sarah's charity - final ocular distortion - jk tapes - cass - 5$

Mysterious mechanized mayhem; fried meditation out of Denmark. Electricity is erupted sonically, sound-based entities converted; persistently psychedelic. Naturally synthetic technology is used paradoxically as a method of coming into chimerical contact with natural forms. Dangling metallic tones drip from the mountains, gear-heavy ruminative drones amass on top of ocean, we are closer to what is real--surreal reality.

The third and last episode in Schlaf’s Ltd. 3” series feat. three untitled compositions . Drift sees the trio migrant to gentler/ much soothing regions than their past (two)

s

schlaf gesucht - s/t - something on the road – cdr – 9.50$

Schlaf Gesucht's debut album. originally released by the band in 2002 and made available again with upgraded cover art. If you've managed to listen to one of the band's ep's - released earlier this year via SOTR- you probably know that schlaf's sound is very elastic - moving from wild, dense guitar walls to airy soothing textures. Be sure to check this early somnambulant ride from the Jerusalem based trio

b

scissor shock / mossy throats- jk tapes - cass - 5$

Two uniquely individual mid-western brobots explore sonic solidness, individually. Stylized jams come crystallize to form an entity totally intangible. Mossy Throats, Dan from Haunted Castle's solo outlet, occupies the first side--atmospheric incantations, mind ripping (tape + voice) manipulations, aesthetically accurate progressive awareness. Spiky drones drenched with electronic force prove to be an epic look within the michi-ground. Indiana epitaph Scissor Shock throws down on the other side--definitely some internally next-level jams. Digital distractions are controlled in chaos. Sounds create a puzzle that no one but their creator can solve, but; that can make for a totally dynamic experience. Electrocuted and (re)electrocuted shoegazed d's that can be enjoyed on both the macro and micro level. Two solo outlets uniting to create something more than themselves--an epic exploration Magellan would've likely approved of.

seaworthy & m.rosner- split - helloSqaure recordings - 3" cdr - 11$

hellosQuare cannot be more proud to bring you this split 3" release by two of our favourite artists - Seaworthy and M. Rösner. with releases on labels like 12k and Room40, these two Australian artists have brought to the world a very unique take on sound art and melodic improvisation, providing warmth and space to what can be a clinical artform from time to time. This split 3" also features Seaworthy's first contribution to hellosQuare - 'The Moment Everyone Goes Quiet' from 'Pins + Needles'.

debut 45 from what has become something of a multi-national supergroup of sorts. ex-eighteenth day of may mainguy, richard olson, soledad brothers drummer ben swank, former gps 45 guy pete greenwood on guitars and lap steel and kevin peyok.

2 fabulous slices of southern u.s folk rock, recalling gene clark, the byrds and burritos with a passing nod to big star perhaps. beautiful, soaring vocals and a gem of a 45 to open up with. early gigs included bill doss from the olivia tremor control - unsurprising given the uplifting nature of the sunny psych tunes within. 300 only 45 given the usual GPS packaging treatment...

shearing pinx / silver daggers – split– arbor - 7"-5$

Time to tell all the ’77 dudes to get hip to the ’07 sound.  Vancouver’s Shearing Pinx and Los Angeles’ Silver Daggers are North America’s ambassadors for the new wave of skronk/thrash/post-whatever punk.  The Pinx play angular, expertly timed, staccato waves of noise and punk.  Two long songs sandwiching one short one in typical Pinx fashion.  The Daggers (experts of interpreting animal sounds w/ regular rock instruments) create utterly epic art-punk jams complete with swirling synths and horns based around solid drumming and guitar/bass interplay.  One track was recorded live at The Smell, coming complete with mosh philosophies, while the second track recalls David Byrne’s “boombox experiments” circa Stop Making Sense. Be sure to check out their new record on Load! In an edition of 400 numbered copies on concrete grey vinyl w/ hand stamped labels in 2 color silkscreen cardstock sleeves and a long insert.

sheperds - loco hills - release the bats – cd – 11$

Loco Hills, the debut fullength from these Brooklyn bush babies,is the sound of a rolling southwestern road trip. It is the sound of unknown terrain, and appropriately Loco Hills finds Shepherds entering full band territory for the first time. A fully realized jam document, toying at times with structure, Shepherds never lose sight of the "drop everything and make music" mentality that makes them so exciting. Swirling strings, tape manipulations. Bongos and wah, fire and bone. This is our music.

Members from Meneguar, Woods and The Vanishing Voice.

s

sheperds - loco hills - nnf - lp -  12$

A lot of beloved-by-us artists and artisans icepick out shapely creations from the marble slab of life on a steady schedule, but even within this rarefied realm it’s a real cause for jubilee when an individual/band fucks precedent and totally redefines themselves through a real masterwork. And, in our book (check it out, it’s a good read), Loco Hills is one such touchstone. Distilling down every fried fuzz-groove, tape-loop ghost cloud, and mass-mind motorik psychosis Shepherds have ever let loose into four perfectly sculpted jam-journeys, the language of Loco is a rolling, roiling ride through twisted wordless tongues and hieroglyphic electricity, at once more focused and far-out than anything else in their canon. Mentioning that members moonlight in projects like Meneguar, Non-Horse, and Vanishing Voice is meaningless, this is the Rear House posse’s shining achievement to date and it stands alone. Black vinyl LPs in matte jackets with the same ‘gnashing viper’ artwork of the Release the Bats CD edition. First 115-ish direct mailorder copies come with a bonus CDR of unreleased live recordings. Edition of 500.

kevin shields – cavity fever – arbor - cass – 5$

Kevin Shields(aka Eva Aguila), resident Deathbomb Arc go-to-girl and craft fair fabric wizard with her own label Hate State, is undoubtedly the harsh noise queen of the West Coast.  Whether it be her collaborations with Brian Miller, her jamming in Gang Wizard, or her solo work, she is always painting from her own sonic spectrum of harsh tones and brutal waves of distortion.  “Cavity Fever” is heavy on keyboard/organ sounds, a new direction for KS, which are seamlessly crocheted with tape manipulations, microphone feedback, and expert tone work.  Brutally beautiful sunshine-electric jams.  In a numbered edition of 100 sprayed tapes with mind melt art by George Meyers.

shv- s/t - is night people – cass - 5$

Ali formerly of the excellent Boston act Dreamhouse is SHV (Superior Human Vomit). I first got turned onto SHV via Ali playing in the basement here at Night People HQ. After that night Ali gave me a copy of her killer first SHV tape - Endless Love, on the Rare Youth label. SHV is never the same thing twice, always performative, always sitting on the edge of failure and greatness, always pushing the boundary. I've seen SHV jump through a ceiling to start a set, tie up a whole audience, stick a dude in an oven, and generally just rock the fuck out always. This tape doesn't disappoint either, blown out synth and drum machine burners, catchy post punk hypnosis, cultist weirdo gestures , something new on every listen of this especially hard to pin down puke punk project. Art by SHV, Printing by SDREED, with fold out double sided covers.

kenji siratori - trinity sky - digitalis recordings - cass - 7$

everyone's favorite japanese cyberpunk brings his walls of tortured noise to the world of digitalis. "trinity sky" is perhaps a softer affair the usual, though the screeching blasts will certainly punch you in the face in the end. siratori's works are dark. they move slow like congealed blood and sound like a machine's last dying breaths. "trinity sky" rushes over you like a buzzsaw, splitting you gently in two.

siratori's music is harsh and heavy at times, but trying to figure out what, exactly, is going on inside these spewing electric bubbles is half the fun and most of the battle. each of these side-long pieces is a clusterfuck of noise, pain, & absolute chaos, told in a way only siratori can. limited to 66 handnumbered copies.

kenji siratori - end of this world - jk tapes - cass - 5$

Endlessly building, bleak, destroyed electronic waste pours onto the world; the atmosphere doesn't stand a chance, and not even Will Smith will survive. Pure unrelenting power, an apathetic apocalypse: the world seems ready to end. Completely fresh, completely conscious, complete. Four parts that elapse about forty minutes; those familiar with Kenji's nonlinear, bizarro work with prose may appreciate this on another level (evidently David Bowie is really into it:) intra-media expression never made more sense.

skaters - dispersed royalty ornaments-wabana – lp – 21$

As the duo known as the Skaters and as solo artists, Ferraro and Clark, who are flat broke and currently without phone or Internet service, spend most of their days and late nights not working but huddled in their bedrooms jamming, obsessively exploring through the use of nontraditional instrumentation and the creation of abstract sound 'the inside and the outside at the same time,' and in the process experiencing what Ferraro calls 'private imaginations.' The end result is not what you would expect -- i.e., a pretentious, painfully dry avant-garde free-noise. Quite the opposite, it's a totally out there, vocal-dominated psychedelia, based, structurally speaking, on the open-ended drone heard in industrial music, minimalism, experimental electronics, folk, world music, and free jazz. And, like the best free jazz -- the early, fiery stuff: Trane, Ayler, Sanders -- the Skaters' noise-drenched cosmic soul is driven by their need to, in the words of Ferraro, 'grasp something that is beyond what you can verbalize. Justin Farrar.

s

skeletons out - in remembrance of me - students of decay – cd – 11$

"In Remembrance of Me"  is the debut release by the Boston
based duo Skeletons Out,  comprised of Howard Stelzer and
Jay Sullivan. Stelzer and Sullivan make use of tapes and vinyl
respectively,  using these spare, deceptively crude means to
conjure strikingly developed,  transportive aural landscapes
which are equal parts lush and expansive and claustorphobic
and atrophied. The record begins with breakdown, as swarming,
hissing tapes flutter,  and amidst stuttering,  resonant clatter
a rusted automaton buckles, faltering, afraid, before pistons
fire anew and it rises,  heralding the slow imploding collapses
which will inevitably follow, as though rising from this detritus.

Stelzer and Sullivan traverse the same barren netherworld
valleys as Mirror at their most blasted,  while foraging deep
within coppices akin to the natural decay states which  inform
the aesthetics of corrosion at work in much of Loren Chasse
and Jim Haynes' output.  Think of "In Remembrance of Me"
as a fugue caked in mud, one which beckons you deeper
and deeper down into its manifold ravaged and entropic depths.
Mastered by Ernst Karel with artwork by Justin Meyers.

skull - strange girls -abandon ship records – 3" cdr - 5$

Another mind-blowing recording from the vaults of Clayton Noone (The Futurians, CJA) and Kaaterama Morehucan (Smokehouse). This one is older than the CJA/Smokehouse tape we released last year, but you would think it's a natural progression from it. Teamed up with Sugar Jon, the three of them jaunt through some rocking numbers, wailing away on their guitars, drums, and vocal chords. It's a short, but epic follow up for sure. This ultra limited release will whet your collective pallets for the upcoming Sundowner LP, which again, features CJA and Smokehouse. Keep an eye out for that late this year/early next. In the meantime, crank the volume on this one while you're sipping some lemonade under the hot summer sun. It's *that* chill.

Smokehouse : guitar, vocals, drums
CJA : guitar, vocals, drums
Sugar Jon : guitar, vocals, drums

skull defekts - dfx - cut hands - cdr - 11$

Crushing two piece thick new album by some of the fiercest electronic damagers to come out of Sweden. On DFX Joachim Nordwall, Henrik Rylander and Jean-Louis Huhta channel two twenty minute bolts of post-industrial sonics. First piece puts up a fog of hazy electronics reminiscent of early Broken Flag tapes by the likes of Maurizio Bianchi and Giancarlo Tonutti whilst gradually morphing into harsher ground. The second piece starts like a lost Wolf Eyes side with a multitude of sinister effects and Industrial beats. Crazy energy building, a whirl of voices lost in a bottomless well, Skull Defekts seem to do it for no less than the most impressive of dystopian soundworlds. 100 copies inside cardstock covers by Gio/Canedicoda and an inlay with photo by Lisa Nordwall.

moan & groan vocals, drums courtesy of the Corwood session-player circa

slasher risk - vole - abandon ship records – cass - 5$

Voles are small rodents similar to mice but with stouter bodies and shorter hairy tails. Vole introduces some new ideas and textures into the Slasher Risk catalog. The A side sees us on one hand going deeper into the realm of electronic noise, offering our first use of looping and tape manipulation, harsher junk-electronic material with an extended almost Native American style war-drumming throughout, while on the other hand also displaying something otherwise unprecedented in our other recordings, a surprising venture into more traditional 'rock' territory, albeit improvised, featuring a steady drum groove and fuzzed out yet discernible guitar with reverberated, echoing vocals. The B side is more akin to an audio map of the opening scene in Macbeth. Heavy dark and stormy nighttime textures in the soundscape, distant lightning flashes, lots of toil-and-trouble fair-is-foul style black arts going on in the negative space between sage and incense wafts. We were using all kinds of crazy cooking and kitchen tools, pots and pans, some cat-grooming brushes, broken radios, c.b. transmitters, and various containers of water and microphones. Uncooked rice ended up everywhere. Don't take that dose operating heavy machinery.

I noticed whilst listening to this that it's pretty loud on my system at 5 and the loudest my stereo goes to is 40, pretty nuts... I'd hit up 40, but I gotta be careful cos of the old guy next door is cool and he lends me screwdrivers, do wanna lose that hook up. Anyways, this is a mindblowing - kinda almost minimal but kinda 'full' at the same time - trip. You ain't heard feedback til your heard this. Limited to 50 copies in hand inked sleeves with stamped credits, each sleeve is entirely individual.

slow listener - desolation sound – tape drift– cdr – 7$

Following amazing releases on labels all over the globe (Ruralfaune, Peasant Magik, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon) comes another masterpiece from the genius mind of Robin Dickinson, out of Brighton, UK.  A hymn to pure sonic beauty, this release is unparalleled in its focus and singular nature.  Self-described as his "heaviest work yet", the sounds herein are simply gorgeous in their ability to transport to other planetary realms.  Under thick layers of fractal tones, distorted hues, and sonic grime lays the beautiful melodic framework that undergirds all of Slow Listener's material.  Edition of 100.

Smegma with Perry Robinson- Live @ No Fun Fest - qbico - lp- 23$

I used to buy and collect Smegma rockets when younger, so i'm really happy to release an LP by this really far out band, especially since they played with my friend Perry, who is one of the most versatile musician i had ever met ! Smegma is a kind of cult mob in the US experimental underground, based in Portland, Oregon, they started back in the early 70's and got connections with the Los Angeles Free Music Society (Tom Recchion, Joe Potts, Le Forte Four, Airways, Doo-Dooettes, Ace Farren Ford and even The Residents); they also got an amazing label called Pigface... here they played some jazz for the year 3018.

smgsap- chrysalis cycles - stunned records - cdr - 7$

"shea M. gauer and scott A. peterson are smgsap, and Chrysalis Cycles is their third full length release in nine years as a group. The layered soundscapes here testify to a pair of improvisational artists with ears for excruciating detail – meticulous gatekeepers on the threshold of analog/digital transfer banks. Moans of plate tectonic energies lay a groundwork for the duo to unleash a wide variety of insectile oscillations and zaps of errant particle collisions. By the conclusion of the four cryptic cycles, it’s hard not to be convinced that somewhere, maybe right under your nose, a creature has undergone a magical, chemical reconfiguration. Ltd. 69 handnumbered cdrs in heavy cottonpaper pouches with fold-out color insert."

The result is a unique experience that hits harder than anything Smigel has put together before"

sean smith - eternal - gnome life records – lp&cd - 15$

Sean Smith is a modern composer of ageless guitar folketry [instrumental poetry]. With several masterful solo-guitar albums behind him, Smith has been drawn out of his hermetic recording life by the power and potential of collaboration, presented here on this record! Sean Smith becomes more fully fructified in the company of his friends, one voice becomes many (instruments)… 6-string steel, Weissenborn [slide], & nylon-string guitars, with dulcimer, banjo, violin, organ, drums, & electric wall of sound… his guitar breathes deeply in this new depth of field and altered sonic state, giving bright light and love to his powerfully emotive instrumental songs. Limited to 300, with letter pressed sleeves!
{This is a pure analog recording, recorded and mixed to 2 inch reel-to-reel tape, mastered directly from tape to vinyl by John Golden!}

sean smith - sacred crag dancer, corpse whisperer - gnome life records – lp - 12$

In the corner of a small room a shadow is stretching out from the window by the fire-escape, relaxing in a worn out armchair, picked up from the street corner. That shadow sings with a guitar’s voice, and hums tunes boldly, little secrets, esoteric, and humble. Shadow and guitar belong to Sean Smith, who controls them both with his mind from the other side of the room. The night in black, but the light is held in little bubbles of brightness, exploding off of all things that live and breathe (look at the cover). These tunes are living, and breathing their first breaths right now! Ten completely spontaneous recordings, improvised music for the solo-guitar…played for the first time ever as they were being recorded. Fresh paint painted with metal strings, a wood body, and fingernails. Totally.

The extremely mind expanding cover is ready for your feasting eyes… Hallucinogenic photos by Sean Smith’s mother (Julie Brown Smith), high definition silk-screened in two colors by a local independent press, then wrapped around and pasted on jackets (Just like they did before 1965). Hand-made, limited to 500.

steven r smith - owl - digitalis recordings - cd - 12$

Steven R. Smith's name has become more commonplace over the last half-decade, and that's a very good thing. From his monumental works as Hala Strana to being a prominent contributor to many Jewelled Antler projects, his sound is distinct.

This is the first brand new solo album from Steven R. Smith since last year's epic "The Anchorite." Few artists can boast the impressive discography Smith does, full of far more hits than misses. And with "Owl," he shows that he's still got new tricks up his sleeve. On here, you'll find some of the things you expect with a new Steven R. Smith record: sprase, angular walls of his trademark guitar playing with embellishments from an array of acoustic instrumention. But there's a new twist here: vocals. Yep, vocals. Smith unleashes his voice on "Owl" and does so in such an impressive fashion that it leaves me asking what took so long?

"Owl" is full of desolate, but hopeful aural landscapes. There's a tinge of regret and longing in his voice when he belts out the words, "This is the world we know..." And in those six words, Smith sums up what "Owl" brings to the table. There is something recognizable about this terrain; the paint is just worn down enough to expose the raw wood underneath. But carefully placed in each corner, in each nook is something new that breathes new life into the familiar.

This is a bold step for someone who has already accomplished a great deal, and leaves us listeners without a clue as to what will happen next. This is magic, indeed.

social junk - champs - is night people – cass - 5$

Met this group of West Virginians down in Miami at INC back in Feb. I was instantly siked on there sound and live show. Total wreckage, throwing drums around the room, yelling into broken mics, four track warble, guitar feedback, totally unhinged damage but focused and intense. Comparisons to Sword Heaven, Savage Republic, The Dead C, etc. might be accurate but overall Social Junk is really hard to pin down. Haunted electronics, floating on an endless barrage of pissed vocals and repetitive drum jams. Silkscreened Artwork by SDREED. Social Junk full length LP coming soon on Not Not Fun.

Hyper-Hypnotic; electronics that'll take you on the journey of yr life-time. An almost topographical sonic documentation of Kentucky purity: meadows of peaks and pitches drift from pillar to post. Deep in the forest, animals jam these jams at frequencies only the can perceive. Secretive strings chill in the trees, while electronics escape in the wind outside. Synchronized naturalness, time has defiantly stopped: No, just an epic sixty-minute extroverted look inward--social gold. [100]

Tempe, Arizona is a creative hotspot over run with positive youth and a supportive community.   Soft Shoulder is the in house posi-punk band comprised of James, James, and Ashley of the clatter crew Tent City.  On this release they turn in their catchy hooks and traditional structure for two 15+ minute improvised pieces that fall somewhere between TC and Graveyards.  Total washed out summertime drones for the punk dudes or sunshine thrash for the noise dudes.  In an edition of 100 numbered copies with stamped discs and an insert within a cardstock print bound with neon nineties nylon bracelets.

This floating line-up, mushroom fuelled free-psych woolly mammoth often consists of a phalanx of between 10 and 25 players: multiple drummers, multiple electrified chordophones, horns, vocals, oscillators etc. Imagine half a dozen freak-folk ensembles congealing into a psychedelic din of Borbetomag-ian proportions. On this occasion SSS comprised members of xNoBBQx, UnAustralians, Arse Lunch, Cock Up Shitting Whore, Rats With Wings, Stasis Duo and others. The CD consists of 3 immense tracks, taken from a 3 hour straight session, lovingly recorded by the Pulled Out mobile unit.

sun of the seventh sister - old dust of absent wars –pseudo arcana– cd – 9.50$

Back in January 2007 New Zealand's shores were invaded by a ramshackle hoard of rowdy Aussies. Laying waste to all behind them they halted briefly in the capital before setting out to scuttle the inter-island ferry enroute to their utter subjugation of the South Island.
Whilst in the capital they established positions in an old military complex overlooking the heart of the city from whence they set forth sonic spells upon the masses arrayed below. Mothers wept as their sons fell foul of the sinister melodies and drones that radiated from the hilltop bunkers. Reed instruments, violins, guitars, drums, electronic noises... A long drowning in a reverberant psychedelic flood.
Suns of the Seventh Sister features members of XNoBBQX, The Unaustralians, and various other folks from the Breakdance the Dawn/Pulled Out Records axis... On these recordings they were joined by the despicable national traitors Snakes Beings and Antony Milton.

sunken - eye electric organ, bran electric nerve pseudo arcana– cd – 15$

Deep in the swirling depths of the ocean a terrible yet wondrous beast stirs slow but sure amidst great forests of sea algae. Taking on the form of a pair of conjoined drown-ed sailors it sets forth upon the currents determined to loose its apocalyptic vision upon the earth via droning sea shanty and great humming hymn.
Sunken is the duo of sunken sailors Stefan Neville (Pumice) and Antony Milton (Nether Dawn/A.M etc). Using a range of organs, sonar gear, live tapeloops, vocals and an unhealthy amount of submarine reverb they create a glorious droning pop noise. 'Eye Electric Organ, Brain Electric Nerve' follows on from their acclaimed self titled debut (also on PseudoArcana) and various compilation appearances.

chriss sutherland - me in a field - digitalis recordings - cd - 12$

Many people might not be directly familiar with the name Chriss Sutherland, but most know Cerberus Shoal, of which Sutherland is a founding member. "Me in a 'Field'" marks his solo debut and shows why Cerberus Shoal is so revered. He's also a current member of Fire on Fire, who will release their debut on Michael Gira's Young God label. But here, Sutherland presents simple, wonderfully crafted songs in their barest form, but backed by the same heart that has made his previous efforts so great.

This collection of songs has been brewing for years, but finally found its way into the light after Sutherland returned from an extended stay in Spain and urging from his friend and compatriant, James Toth AKA Wooden Wand. All of the songs are built around the combination of guitar and voice, though some are enhanced with piano, banjo, etc. Simplicity is often a lost artform in-and-of itself, but this is where Sutherland strives. Listening to him belt out his almost-perfect lyrics reminds me that even though the singer/songwriter realm is overpopulated and generally tired, when it's done right it can be magnificent.

"Me in a 'Field'" is such a welcome entry into the genre that it goes down smooth and sweet. Lyrically, Sutherland is a wizard. His songs are universal. When he sings about those close and important to him, they become the listener's friends and family too. It's music that will appeal to many audiences and cuts across boundaries. At its heart it may be folk music, but Sutherland's offering something that's freer and more exciting.

sweetsweetcoffeebreath / hunting rituals- cloud valley recordings - cass - 5$

If you're lucky you can catch a glimpse SweetSweet Coffeebreath lurking with his magic somewhere within the depths of the burning sun-god organ drones of Slow Listener... or, he's working some open sky healing with Atoms to conjure the great Black Sparrow. SweetSweet CoffeeBreath may or may not be Robin X of Slow Listener...Robin X may or may not be a spirit trickster sending us ethereal vibes from time and space unknown. The only other thing i have to say is that this is one beautifully channelled magnetic spell on side A of this tape. Have you seen the cloud dancer? coffeebreath probably knows her quite well

Side B of this tape involves ceremonial tapestry from the wither clan...brooding horn, fungus infested steel, and wolfcry woodwinds telling tales of the great hunt of the ancients and the madness that followed after the feast, devoured the forest whole and all its tranquility...all gone....only woodhaunts remain, twisted and torn

sweet teeth- from the fourth hand of the buddha the lotus was born for the seventh time - thor's rubber hammer - cdr - 5$

Sweet Teeth combines both the sounds and members of Dark Meat and Long Legged Woman -- clusterpsych classic-rock tendencies paired with hypnotic avant-rock. From the Fourth Hand's lone track, "Morning Raga," is a tribal drum-heavy affair recorded live at the 40 Watt in Athens, GA by the capable hands and ears of Asa Leffer. The monochordal frame has the band expanding the third eye in the crosshairs of Spacemen 3, Acid Mothers Temple and Pharoah Sanders. Artwork by Ben Clack and righteous llama photo by Page Campbell. tabata - la vie electrique: last exit to brainsville - elsie and jack – cd –-10$

the second solo cd from tabata mitsuru / founding member of the Boredoms, guitarist in Zeni Geva and now bassist/vocalist in Acid Mothers Temple among others
Tabata has once again sprinkled his own brand of moondust all over these recordings. Heavily influenced by memories of Ultraman, this is a trip inside the speeding mind of a 70’s child.
Not that this is an exercise in charming nostalgia! Tabata strikes a delicate balance between instrumental technique + raw sound manipulation to exorcise the sounds of his past.

taiga remains - crushed radiant deities - students of decay – cd – 10$

Luminescent, wrecked shards of overtone drones merged with zoned
and disembodied choral whispers and ribbons of pure white electricity.
"Crushed Radiant Deities" is the first widely available Taiga Remains
release, bundling remastered versions of the two tracks from the long
out-of-print "Paper Lanterns" EP with two new longform works to form
a dense, polyphonic fugue of dynamic collisions and endless collapses.

taiga remains / gareth hardwick - split - low point– 10" – 16$

A meeting of minds from across the Atlantic, this release pairs UK resident Gareth Hardwick with Taiga Remains of the USA for two sides of solo experimental guitar.

Gareth Hardwick’s contribution to the release, “High Tension”, continues to demonstrate his unique take on guitar-based ambience.  The patented smears of processed guitar are still present, whilst more dissonant elements including fuzz, hiss and static have also been introduced to bolster and underpin the nature of the composition.
Taiga Remains is the solo guise of Alex Cobb, label head of Students of Decay and resident of Cincinnati, Ohio.  The Taiga Remains track, ‘Pantomime Bodies’ presents an intricate listening environment that through layer upon layer of sound reveals new depth and tones with every play.

10" vinyl EP packaged in a heavyweight antique green paper sleeve.  Ltd edition of 300 copies.

taiga remains- thereafter– arbor - cass – 7$

Alex Cobb’s Taiga Remains project pushes the exact opposite vibes as the name of his Students of Decay label. With use of nothing but guitar and pedals Cobb materializes lush and precise drones which seem to come directly out of the air. So heavy and powerful that they don’t even seem to exist, nor could they come from any instrument / human. Total peace and solitude; meditative Eastern vibes transcendent in and of themselves. The A side’s “Winter Tai-Tung” is a light and breezy trip through the mist, growing unconsciously, beyond notice until the track ends. The B side’s “Spring Shan-Lin-Shi” recalls visions ten seconds of prayer service slowed down and stretched into ten minutes, like the sound right after a bell rings hung in static forever. In an edition of 100 tapes in oversized plastic cases with an insert and printed labels.

mike tamburo - screwing six bolts into last tuesday or screwing sox bolts into last week - new american folk hero – cd – 10$

4th reissue of the first non guitar Tamburo release now features gorgeous artwork and jewel case. " Screwing Six Bolts Into Last Tuesday is an especially impressive solo piece for piano, vibes, feedback and effects that builds from tasteful piano strikes to a processed cycle of electronics and distortion that altogether makes me think of Steve Reich's reverberating flights to infinity, with some speed fluctuations and inter-dimensional shifts further adding to the processed build-up confusion. Often quite disturbed and haunted in the same space". - Lee Jackson

temples - murk pseudo arcana– cd – 12$

With the advent of September 11, 2001 the musical underground found itself ripe once more for a rejuvenation of beards and acoustic guitars. And who am I to complain- I have a beard and like a bit of a finger pick myself..
Temples is Kevin Richards . He hails from Denver, Colorado, in the good old USA. 'Murk' is an acoustic guitar album. I'm not sure if Kevin has a beard. What is refreshing to these ears about this record is that its an acoustic guitar album wherein the guitar itself is subsumed within the glorious phenomena of the recording media itself, and in this case one of my personal favourites- TAPE! Building up layer after layer of distant and hissy strummed and picked guitars Temples creates a kaleidoscopic miasma which shifts and drifts through vast caverns and tiny rooms, the various rhythms in and out of phase as patterns collide and repel.
There's a deceptive ease and simplicity to the way Murk breathes. I know for a fact that Richards spent many months shaping these pieces into the ramshackle atmospheric drone works they have become. If you were after a comparison I would suggest that Temples does for the guitar what Dialing In does for keyboards and shruti boxes.
I'm often worn down by long pieces, and especially long albums. Just because one can fit 70 minutes on a cdr doesn't mean one should. 'Murk' however is an album that benefits from the extended room that the individual tracks are given to roam and evolve. This is a murk I'm more than happy to lose myself in for an hour.

One of the major risks faced by a spacecraft stems from the high level of vibration submitted during essential spacecraft components the shakers are coupled to a dual head expander for tests in the vertical axis and to a large slip under similar conditions to ensure that it will be able to withstand the launch and arrive, in orbit, in perfect condition. Vibrations in the three orthogonal axes of the spacecraft is the case for the dual-head expander.

john thill - the sluts - jk tapes - cass - 5$

The man; the legend; the dude; John Thill. With ever-expanding infinite influence, JT brings pure pop gems to the table with purely anti-pop subtexts, and this paradox is probably one of the most radicle things on earth. Raw yet filtered, "The Sluts" is a retrospective look at an incredibly maturated man; transformations captured lyrically, but on the micro- and the macro- scale. Folk that challenges the mind, the body, and the spirit; crisping lo-fi aesthetic captive in the a stream of flowing cerebrospinal in the mind of the man that should've redefined last generation. "Where did all the good men go?" Well, they are John Thill.

This is a reissue of John's EP, formerly released by JK Tapes. This is the first album I've put out that I'm not on, and I'll admit, I'm pretty proud of it. John is an incredible songwriter, and this EP is at once beautiful, haunting, and any number of other adjectives really, this was a real pleasure to release. The last time I saw John, he put a bunch of broken glass in his mouth and swirled it around with an electric toothbrush. True story. Cover image is a wonderful painting by Seda Puda, and the whole thing comes in a fuzzy, leopard-print pocket.

fat legs / thousand year frog - cloud valley recordings - cass - 5$

Fat Legs is Dan and Tiff. On side A they come in slow and creepy with full on texturize alien feedback tones and electronic animal squalor sounds, the side builds and builds with beautifull layers of multitextural electronics...and, by the end--stunned and immobile, weird weird ass descending crescendios of minimalism...smoked

1000 year frog is on side B. Steve Smith is one real ZONER jammer...he takes the time and has the patience to always offer you some new goods, in a diverse texturized manner....no exception here....the frog side enters and sustains with weird-weird shit---minimal drone angels shrieking in the backdrop, refined and subdued feedback moans and what sounds like reptilian slithering and shifting movements with weird clock-like rythms...and then, SMASH the bang for your buck has arrived, all the levels go up, and you're lost in a rabbit-hole ever descending

when the curtain opens on the lone figure at the head of the stage as he blows his harmonica, hoping to conjure spirits from the layers of dust on the floor. wailing vocals light the balconies and waft their way toward the smoky heavens of the lushly decorated ceiling. thousands is the sister of the mighty (VxPxC), but this extended family vision is a much larger beast. on "overflow'd & gush'd out," thousands are six. disjointed melodies reclaim the horizon from fractured guitar lines and sporadic drum blasts. thousands move like a machine across the landscape, sucking up everything in their path, inviting it all in to join in their revolt. rebelling against what? that's not all that important when it sounds so damn good.

tirath singh nirmala - bluster, cragg, & awe - digitalis - cd - 12$

Not too long ago, John Clyde-Evans made a huge splash with his phenomenal solo LP on England's Fisheye imprint. He also performed as an collaborator with the seminal UK group, Hood. After taking a seven year hiatus and committing to the path of Sikhism, he returned as Tirath Singh Nirmala. His continually unfolding backstory is interesting enough, but it's his music where the real magic and mystery stretch their silver wings.

Nirmala returned to making music after his close friend and collaborator, Vibracathedral Orchestra's Neil Campbell, gave him some free software and set him on his way. Nirmala responded with nearly a dozen self-released, highly limited CDRs. The releases were filled to the brim with Eastern-influenced, transcendental drones and uplifting spiritual sound explorations. His manipulation of sine waves and use of obscure Asian instruments creates a wholly original and unique sound. As on his solo
