tivol - teema laskipaa - tibprod – cdr –6$ sold out
Few bands have the energy and exuberance as Finnish kraut kings Tivol. Their previous outings have been bombastic sonic nightmares, and "Teema Laskipaa" is no exception. Over the course of "Teema Laskipaa"s 22+ minutes, Tivol shed their skin and howl at the moon. Guitar, bass, drums, and vocals are the weapons of choice here, but this is music that is totally drenched in space debris. This is a monolithic journey that will inject caffeine directly into your pulsating veins. It makes you just want to get up and shake your ass and run a million fucking millions to the nearest star. No band emits this kind of radiation like Tivol does. They are the absolute best and one of Finland's most overlooked gems. It's a goddamn shame, too, because this is the kind of aural mindfuck that will put a smile on anyone's face and make you feel like you've just met God. Hail Tivol! Hail!- Brad Rose/digitalisc

sindre bjerga - tales from topographic oceans - tibprod – 3" cdr –6$ sold out
This week sees a much more interesting solo release by Sindre Bjerga. He's one half of Fibo Trespo and runs the Gold Soundz label. I am told that many of his tracks take up to twenty minutes, so the format of 3" CDRs is well spend on him. Although it's unclear what his sound input is, Bjerga seems to be improvising around here with electronics and percussion elements. Although two distinct sources, the two swirl nicely in and out of the mix. Sometimes the electronic element is stronger than the other and there is some extensive use of reverb. One could even say it's a far cry to the well-known David Jackman sound, or rather his Organum sound, in the areas of 'Vacant Lights'. Quite nice, this one. Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly
