78 grave & the rocket 88s – i love the life at the door -mad monk–cdr – 12$

Brand new on James Toth’s MAD MONK ANNEX CDR imprint. Title taken from a poem by Poetry Out Loud guru Klyd Watkins. From the artist: "On hold with the Tennessee Department of Human Services for over 36 minutes, the initially innocuous 'hold music' - which resembled two bars of "The Way We Were" repeated ad infinitum - began to mesmerize / hypnotize, as my impatience slowly melted to peace, lulled as I was by this 16 second loop of muzak, which would cut off and repeat at random intervals. After finally getting through and dealing with my business, I decided to call back and record the music, which I was now obsessed with (possessed by?). This time I was only on hold for 21 minutes. I took what I had, doubled it, and did some very basic edits / treatments." Imagine a punk rock Distintegration Loops or a drug withdrawal-plagued take on some of The Caretaker's recent ballroom music. An unusually provocative and mysterious tablet of high audio doggerel. Fans of narcosynthesis, rejoice!

thrash, jr – all throttle, no bottle - mad monk–cdr – 12$

Thrash, Jr, named after Houston Mazda (RX-7) Cup driver Thomas Thrash Jr, is yet another guise of James Jackson Toth, and released on Toth's new MAD MONK ANNEX CDR imprint. This racing-themed album comprises three extended pieces of bleak and visceral solo guitar cacophony / catharsis. If Hassara was “boogie,” Thrash, Jr is “bombardment.” From the artist: "Like most American kids my age, my life was changed irrevocably by the music of bands like Courtesy Flush, Army Nightmares, Lil Johnny Eightball & the Secret Society Dildos, and The Canker Sores. This premeditated and unprovoked attack on my electric guitar is in tribute to those bands and their myriad imitators." “Lux Interior” is a duet for raging rainstorm and goat hoof-guitar, “Victory Is Hers” is a naughty little respite of delay blast and Toth’s patented “animal-tapping” fuckitude, and "Militant Walls (Is Poser Noise For Pussy Emo Fags)" finds Toth turning up the gain on his solid state amplifier and proceeding to audibly pull his Stratocaster apart - you can literally hear the entire tremolo system being slowly removed. Ouch! "Makes Rudolph Grey sound like Steve Vai" - William Blake Cobblestone, local television personality. "The best guitar noise album of the year" - The Other Dude in Claudio Two, Claudio Two. Improvised and recorded entirely live over two stormy Nashville nights, with nothing added post production. For fans of guitar disembowlment pioneers like Stefan Jaworzyn, Donald Miller, et al. Proper jewel cases, no more slim case bullshit.

claudio two - the corpse - blackest rainbow – one sided cass -8$

New band featuring Chazz Improv and Norma Bates (aka James and Jessica Toth aka Wooden Wand and Satya Sai), and Max "Mev" Wicker, so far this little crew has just had two jams out on Toth's own Mad Monk label... Here you got two tracks of weirdo psyche drone blues, compared by James to some of the Hassara jams, pretty damn slick, I played this in my local record and book store and they compared it to the an old skool German loner, although the name slips my mind. Limited to 100 hand numbered copies with black printed pastel paper sleeves.
